Wi Max voice?
Hi everyone,
A couple of questions regarding the future. It's my understanding that when Sprint fully transitions to WiMax they will use Voip for voice. My question is, With all of the the other major carriers going to LTE, what will we Sprint customers do when we're out of our native coverage?
I don't believe we will be able to roam off LTE networks. Anyone have any insights? I'm sure the answers will be obvious 3-4 years from now. Also, will LTE require the use of SIM cards?
Thanks.

WiMAX will not be able to roam off LTE and LTE will require SIM cards. Sprint will most likely utilize CDMA/WiMAX devices for voice services.

Thanks for the reply Yean. What about roaming? I don't think WiMax will be as extensive nationwide that your set won't need to roam, especially if your out of the metro area and in the sticks. Any thoughts?

If Sprint does offer dual mode CDMA/Wi-Max handsets then they will continue to roam on other CDMA networks. Sprint has never tried to cover the entire map. The important thing is that they cover Metro areas. If Boseman, Montana is neglected *Shrug* So be it.

Not to mention Sprint has a TON of 4G spectrum and it is very extensive nation wide. The speed of Sprint's rollout has nothing to do with our coverage. I don't have the exact details handy, they can be found though. But sprint 4G spectrum pretty much blankets the US. Between that and voice still being able to work off of CDMA i don't see anyone having an issue.
