When considering the upcoming HTC Hero or the currently available Palm Pre, you may find this interesting.

Android After the Honeymoon
On paper, Android seems like a developer's dream come true. In the past, mobile developers were saddled with arcane toolkits and closed, proprietary OSes, but Android is all about openness. Compared to Apple's iPhone OS, Android would seem to offer a better value proposition to developers in almost every respect. But that's all conceptual. Unfortunately, while Android looks good on paper, in the real world, execution is what counts, and so far Google's has been lacking.

Compared to Apple, Google's developer documentation is scanty at best, and it doesn't help that the Android OS still seems

I had the Palm Pre. It is a great device, and I loved the web browser, unobtrusive notifications, Palm Synergy, and Universal Search.

However it did not take video, have Visual Voicemail, Full Flash integration in the browser, have 8000 downloadable applications, have any installable widgets, I couldnt customize my alarm or text messaging sounds, I couldn't forward text messages (or copy their text), Copy and Paste did not copy images, nor did it have a 5MP camera.

But the HTC Hero, Samsung Intrepid, and Samsung Moment do. Android has been rockin since the Cupcake build. Just wish more Android Phones had the Pre's (or better) processing power and the HTC Sense UI.

Perhaps you should have held onto the Palm Pre a liite longer. Other than the harware it looks like there working on the software side.

Palm has accidentally leaked an early edition of WebOS 1.2 to a few lucky users, giving the world a sneak peek at the next version of this smartphone operating system. This is being carefully examined, and there's good news and bad news for those who have a Palm Pre.

LED Notifications
The good news is that the next version of this operating system might start using the LEDs that a built into the Pre to notify users of events, like new emails. The lack of this feature has drawn much criticism, and Palm appears ready to respond.

With this feature, the LEDs that are on both sides of the G

I read that. They still don't take video, still dont let you customize many ringtones, still doesn't have 8000 applications, still no widgets, still no full flash support, and it is still a relatively new and growing OS. I am looking for a phone that fits all my needs now... not months from now. But I get a new phone every couple of months. So it is definate that I will have a webOS device again in the future. Maybe the Castle.

I wouldn't switch to Sprint even if they offered a 4G iPhone for free on a SERO plan
