Technically, no, but there is one way if you want to activate a GSM phone on Sprint.

Sprint carries a motorola phone like the V555 to be used for customers that need an international phone. There are special plan requirements to use this phone, but since it's a quadband GSM phone it's an international device.

Here is the only way possible from my knowledge. Activate the Motorola phone on one of Sprint's international plans (no clue what they are and how much, probably expensive). Take the sim card out, and place it into an unlocked GSM phone. And should work (maybe) 😕

only problem is that sprints international plan is not a plan... you do not get a alloted amount of minutes, you just get a discounted per minute rate and it only works in other countries.... The phones that are available for this are blackberry8830 (world edition) and the samsung ACE

I know that one, but the V555 one is a quadband GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900), the ACE and 8830 are CDMA/Dual GSM (800,1900) which are not here in the states.

To activate another CDMA carrier device on Sprint.

Don't know how it's done, but I remember hearing something about a California law passed last year that allows this. Don't know if it impacted Sprint, but it might have.

Something to do with loading the ESN to Sprint's database (don't know how) but then web and certain phone features will not work, unless you have a WM phone and flash over the Sprint ROM onto it. (don't know how either)

Not too common of a question, and is ALWAYS less of a hassle on everybody's part to just get a Sprint phone.

As you realize I don't know much in this department but I would refer you to Mobile-Trojan, I've seen him post about this before.

nice. my name shows up after months of not posting. however, i still lurk. i now work in a corp store fixing phones.

the short version of the answer is no, there is no way to use anything other than a SPRINT phone on sprint, and each CDMA company is going to be the same, with the exception of cricket in our area. they tend to have good luck flashing sprint phones to cricket, but then they will never work again on sprint.

happy trails

CDMA phones may be "flashed" in order to work on another CDMA provider. It's a lot more intensive process than unlocking a gsm phones, with less reward. Rarely do data services/picmail work. While working in the hood I knew someone that could take any sprint phone (stolen or otherwise) and flash it for use on US Cell's prepaid service.
