MY opinion of the main problems of the 4 major

Sprint: Customer service
Verizon: Price
At&t: 3g speed/strength
T-mobile: Lack of 3g and premium services.

Just my little rant, tell me what you think...

This is a little better waying than pointing flaws.

Sprint
Pro - Affordability, open source apps on phone

Con - Company is set up like a Bureaucracy due to multiple networks.

Verizon
Pro - National Coverage, holds top places in every market.

Con - Cost and usuability of functions on handsets

AT&T
Pro - Able to bundle with home utilities.

Con - Low number of handsets to support high speed internet.

T-Mobile
Pro - Customer care and international handset support.

Cons - Overall coverage is ranked low in most markets.

please ignore the fact that i work for sprint now but...

sprint i think is the best. we have phones that arent locked down like VZW. we actually have 3G in most places unlike ATT. our cost is low unlike VZW and ATT. our coverage is great and if its marginial in an area, chances are you can roam off VZW for free.

so yea other than CS sucking, sprint wins.

VZW and ATT are money grubbin b-tards. they lock their phones, talk up their crappy coverage and act like their ish dont stink

It doesn't matter that at&t sells their wireless devices as the majority of them are able to be unlocked and used with any other GSM wireless carrier in North America as well as the rest of the world provided the handset also supports 900/1800 MHz GSM. True, unless you can get the data configurations for a particular GSM wireless carrier, you may not have text and/or data session access on it, but at least voice will work. at&t has the most global coverage of any North American wireless carrier with T Mobile a fairly close second. Remember, T Mobile is the second largest wireless carrier in Europe right behind Vodafone which, by the way, is one of the parent companies of Verizon Wireless. I would like to hope that Sprint will sing their Swan...

Verizon talks up there crappy coverage? If it were so crappy, then Sprint wouldnt be ROAMING off it 90% of the time when you leave the Sprint Network. Sprint does not win. How is Sprints 3G "Dependable" when it does not cover Huntsville, AL; Shreveport, LA; Batton Rouge, LA; Jackson, MS; ect.? Those are major markets.

With Verizon, you pay for what you get:
Americas Largest Voice and 3G data network.
Americas Largest calling network.
The network with the best data coverage world wide.
Top rating Customer Service.

And we don't lock down our phones. Bluetooth, GPS, ect. is all unlocked. If you really knew what you were talking about, then I wouldn't be writing this.

Sprint roams off of Verizon 90% of the time when they are off network. Who does Verizon roam off of 90% of the time when they are off network? Sprint. That was a ridiculous statement. They are the two largest CDMA carriers in the country. Period. So common sense would dictate that they would roam off of each other. WOW! You are so smart with your comment. Oh my gosh! They have some serious braniacs over at Verizon folks!

You claim Shreveport and Baton Rouge LA are major markets? Seriously? I'm just going to leave that alone.

Huntsville, which is the smallest of the three by population, actually has native Sprint EVDO Rev A. So you were wrong again.

No we don't. If we Roam now. it would bee of US Cellular or Cellular South. its like 1%-2% for us to roam off Sprint. And In Hunstville? haha! One tower with EVDO, not even Rev A, that covers HALF the city, but not the other half. And Shreveport and Baton Rouge are in the Top 100 markets in the US which Verizon covers all with EVDO.

Next, not 100% of Sprints EVDO is Rev A, unlike Verizon which 100% is Rev A.

Verizon wont have a problem with the Alltel merge like Sprint did with Nextel. If you were smart, you would know Alltel and Verizon are both CDMA, unlike Sprint and Nextel which one is CDMA and the other is iDEN. iDEN and CDMA do not work together smart one. Thats why they have so many problems. There running 2 DIFFRENT networks.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

The problems Sprint and Nextel had with merging the two companies together had nothing to do with running two networks. It had everything to do with TWO DIFFERENT BILLING SYSTEMS. You obviously work for Verizon. Do you work for Sprint? No. I do and have for a long time. Sprint treated the Nextel customers like castaways because their billing system was not what they were used to using. So they made the Nextel customers wait and wait and wait and wait some more. This is why so many Nextel customers churned. I am sure that any other employee of Sprint will back this up. Having to support the two different billing systems caused wait times for all customers, Sprint and Nextel, to go up. Thus the horrible CSATS leading to ...

the only thing "crippled" is bluetooth, and that is only data transfer issues (a lot of that has to do with their licensing with the companies that produce the content)

The main complaints on the verizon forums are over the UI (something that a majority of customers appreciate, and it is not a crippling) or "crippled" features like gps (no longer the case) or lack of wifi on smartphones (again, not crippling, VZW does not lock down wifi on a phone that has it, they do not request it, neither does sprint for that matter)

There is no CDMA enabled blackberry that we have that has a wifi variant also on a CDMA carrier.

The roaming argument is old & pointless in CDMA. If you were to really look at the numbers and roaming agreements in ALL regions, sprint, bellsouth, cricket, USCC, & VZW all have some kind of agreement to roam in some areas...

Being with a company now who works VERY closely w/Sprint & once a Technician for VZW I can see clearly the difference between a "Crippled" & crap phone...

VZW has and always will test phones to ensure it will have as few bugs/flaws as possible before released. The vast majority of the time if a VZW devise is "Crippled" it did not pass VZW testing requirments, and the manufacturer did not fix it before release. With software updates the device eventually becomes less & less "Crippled"..

ALL manufacturers have a one year warranty, read your warranty coverage in your phones owners manual. Sprint wont cover the warranty unless you pay for ESRP, the manufacturer will but you have to send the phone to them. Educate yourself on warranty. I have had a phone that Motorola said, and I quote "That is a known issue with your phone, you can either send it to us or have it replaced in the store quicker, Sprint is aware of the issue" & Sprint REFUSED to help. ESRP coverage means what Sprint wants to cover, its almost useless.

Well, now it is a moot point. Service and Repair locations now honor a manufacturer's warranty for 1 year for manufacturer defects. NO REPLACEMENT COST TO THE CUSTOMER. But many issues customers come in to complain about are not defects. It is that way for all carriers. I sold retail for Sprint for 2 years, worked with many other reps, was a roving trainer in many stores, and never ONCE did I hear a retail rep sell TEP or ESRP as an added feature of the manufacturer's warranty. Kayslay said it best when he likened a phone purchase to that of a TV. Every electronics retailer has a stated policy for returns. If YOU the customer would like extra coverage for your device.....then buy the insurance. Don't be a cheapo and expect the company to rep...

The ironic thing is that a sales rep makes pennies on the dollar off of a TEP add on. It is not a huge difference maker. Reps aren't out there thinking "How can I screw this next customer over?" If a rep closes TEP attachments at a 70% rate on standard A level store quota that rep will make $350 in a year. When you talk about the sheer number of phones that compromise those figures you come up with an attachable option that makes a rep very little money. Yes BB do have there own support center through VZW. VZW handles all BB issues internally. Just not through the stores as those reps have not been trained to do so, its a branch of the business support group.
