any one who works in this industry..... have you ever noticed this is the only industry around were people have the cojones to come to a store and say i have been a customer for nine years and have paid my bill every month and i want the 400 dollar phone for free or I'm canceling. My point is can you go to McDonald's and say i have eaten here for the past nine years now i want free food, can you call your cable company and say the same thing and DEMAND free cable, can you go to a mortgage company and DEMAND a free house, no so what makes this industry any different? Can anyone provide a logical explanation cause i have yet to figure one out.

those type of customers always pissed me off! what they don't realize is that what they are paying for each month is the service that they are using, to make calls, text, internet, tv, radio, etc. in the money that they give to mcdonald is an exchange for the food that they eat to nourish themselves. You pay for what you use and the people that serve you. If you want a $400 phone, Sprint will give you the all discount that they could, you just have to be a bit responsible for the remaining amount. Sprint had always been kind.

or i think the best one i just has was i want your cell phone number so i can call you and make shure you are going to do this. i just told you i am going to do it and why the f*** would i give you my cell phone number so you can call me at 3 in the mourning to harass me i think not. do you go to radioshack and ask for the owners cell phone number and get mad when they laugh in your face. i have been working for sprint for almost a year now and came from tmobile and i am starting to think that it is not as much as a sprint problem as it is a sprint has some of the most stupid customers. if you can not afford the phone dont buy it if you are not happy call corporate do not call me!!! you do not pay me !!!

well to be fair, this is a condition the cell companies have brought upon themselves. cell companies have a semi monopoly on the phones and most buyers get their phones at the same place they get their service. you can't readily go into a wal-mart buy a phone and have it just work out of the box. as you could with the traditional land lines.
also the cell companies re-enforce the idea by offering free phones with service contracts. essentially this means the customer 'rents' the phone as the cost is spread out over the length of the contract.
someone earlier used the cable analogy, but it wasn't quite correct. essentially it is like your cable box going out and you expecting the cable company to provide a new one. most cable boxes are re...

yea carriers give free phones. you ever notice which ones are free tho? its always the cheap-o ones and the discontinued ones that no one wants to actually pay for.

but do the customers realize that? no!
they are too stupid and have the "gimmie gimmie" mindset.

they think that all the phones are free. i love it when someone comes in and says, "my contract/upgrade is up. i want my free phone."
so i show them the free phone (if i even have one), then they get all pissy because it isnt the brand new super duper awesome phone that they want. then they cant seem to comprehend that the phone they want isnt free and then proceed to tell me its bull$$$$ that they have to pay for a phone period.

they all need to be taken to the desert and...

What the main problem with the cellular service in the United States is we offer discounts with contractual agreements. Every customer believes they’re entitled to a discount off the phone and they should get every phone for free. This is what messed up the whole Cellular Industry in the United States. If you look back to 2000 when the industry was growing exponentially. Nearly all companies didn’t offer contacts. And even if they did it was optional. Sprint use to offer a one-year agreement. Which, wasn’t even called a contract, it was called it an Advantage Agreement and it was optional. Also back then carriers charged full retail for the phone and offered rebates without a contact as long as you were on a plan that meets th...

i love the look on peoples faces when you tell them the retail cost of a phone. they are actually dumb enough to think that cell phones are produced for free. 🙄

This is the closest way I believe people look at carriers when it comes to this issue. Just because they're carrying Sprint's logo, they believe they are doing a part to carry Sprint's business, which they are, but not always long enough to get a free phone or $500 off a phone. I always try to bring it down to the point of, Palm charges us $600 dollars for this phone and because you've only had you phone for 6 months, we are not allowed to extend your contract, but when you are half way through your agreement we will be able to work on the price with you.

Oh i definetly agree. just because a customer has completed a contract DOES NOT deserve a a high end phone...dont these jackasses realize it costs millions of dollars to maintain there wireless service. Sure lets just hand out free instincts, dares and iphones just because your demanding it and going to cancel.....
