Samsung Instinct

I have to say, when I woke up this morning and found info on Sprint's site about the upcoming Instinct I was very excited. I thought I'd head over to Phone Scoop to see what everyone was saying about it, and I got nothing. What do you all think? I can't wait to get my hands on this beauty. To think...I almost bought a touch. This phone looks super sweet. EVDO Rev A, GPS, Visual Voicemail! Way to go Sprint! Finally a phone to get excited about. I just hope it stays exclusive to Sprint.

This is literally going to make or break Sprint, as they're planning to spend over $100 million in marketing this puppy. As an aside, it seems more and more that carriers are giving more names to phones to use in place of the model numbers.

this isnt going to break sprint at all even if the phone wasnt a success even though we all know its gonna be. to many big plans for late 2008 for sprint to have a phone shut down buisness.

As I understood it, Samsung was spending the $100 million to market the Instinct.

Launched in June. The only word I saw on pricing was one site said "under $300." Who know for sure though.

Under $300 isn't bad for a phone like that. I'm assuming that's retail price, though, not new 2-year price.

If the iPhone goes for $400 with a 2 year at the store across from me (ATT) then $299.99 2 year price is VERY reasonable. No way a gem like this goes for $149.99 and the V9 is more expensive.

I could see samsung and sprint cuttin price to $150 or $200 on a 2 year contract.

I doubt retail is $300 with the curve going for $600

The launch is sometime in June.

As for price, my own guess is that it will be $400 full price, $250 with 2yr contract. There's not really a market force to have it lower right now. That's just pure personal speculation however.

I wonder why it comes with 2 batteries when the talktime is 5.75? ๐Ÿคจ

With a phone like this why would you complain about having two battaries? Also 5.75 is TALK time, when using applications on the phone it uses battery life a lot fast, plus it comes with a battary chargin sleeve so you can charge your spare battary ;-)

I wrote a thread on this when I saw the news brief. This phone looks bad-ass. I've still had buyers remorse when I spent a whole 5 bucks on my fusic (after a ONE year upgrade, that's right kids, one year) at the radioshack store I work at. The fusic is cool, or whatever, but my blade was a tank, had a better screen, and camera. It didn't have external memory, and I dug the fusic's 3.5mm adapter with mic (so I can use it as a car phone) So I got it. I still have my blade, but the camera's busted, and it looks like I played football with it. I've had nothing but issues with my fusic since I had it, and have mourned my blade for days. Finally, I ALMOST paid the 500 for a touch with no rebates, until I saw that the instinct was coming out. This ...

Is this phone going to sport wi-fi? I hope so cause if not it def will be a disappointment.

No. It has Sprint EVDO rev-A so wi-fi would mostly be redundant.

From what I've heard it will be using Java as it's platform. The obvious plus to this is that many software companies know this platform well and if the phone does well enough, we'll start seeing more and more apps for this phone.

Right now while the Instinct may win the "Features" battle, the true competition will be the iphone's operating system.

Hopefully the Instinct 2 will have multitouch and good support from 3rd party developers to make any kind of real dent to the iphone in the future but as of now feature hungry people will turn to this but most will still flock to the iphone ๐Ÿ˜•

This phone is gonna be hot for the upgrade, and the Iphone is nice...I can't say (even though I couldn't stand ATT) I almost bought one and used my RS employee plan. But radioshack like sprint isn't exactly commanding the market. but through some glitch from sprint, I'm elibible for my 2 year already, and I'm either gonna jump the gun and buy a refurb centro (for the price of FREE!) or waiting patiently for my instinct...My point is, not everyone can get credit for ATT, but almost anyone can get sprint, and for that, the instinct will be golden
