During 2007, Sprint added 25 new cell sites throughout Hawaii and 10 of these sites were added on the Big Island. Additionally, Sprint enhanced coverage for customers statewide by upgrading many existing cell sites to carry both iDEN and CDMA technology.. To me anything other then Oahu is a waste of money the others are not that populated at all. The big island is like blanketing Alaska with EVDO and voice coverage.

Yes, Sprint Nextel is very popular in Hawaii and I definitely would not compare the Big Island with Alaska.

In 2006 the US unemployment rate was at 4.9% Alaska had the 2nd highest unemployment rate out of all 50 states and Puerto rico at 6.7%, while Hawaii had the lowest unemployment rate with 2.5%. Hawaii County (the Big Island) was slightly higher than the State of Hawaii average but much lower than the US average and Alaska average with 2.8%.
