To All Who Have Said Sprint Ruined Nextel

...Nextel's reputation, maybe.

But as far as network, services and pricing, not so!

As much as I love Nextel, when I first got service with them, it was VERIZON expensive! For the same money I'm paying now for 7 pm nights, unlimited nationwide DC and free LD & roaming, I only got 3200 N&W minutes, starting at (ugh!) 9 pm, and 250 LOCAL DC minutes. In order to upgrade to unlimited nationwide DC, it was $20 extra per line!

My data services and text messaging were soooo slow, too. ☹️

And roaming? Forget about it! I would've even settled for analog backup in those days. Now, Sprint will be launching QChat phones that are full roaming capable. 🙂

My powersource phone works in places my i90 won't touch. My coverage, data, pricing ha...

I agree for me nothing beats Sprint! I love my DC and my clear PCS calls. I was just reading on sprintusers that there will be more Hybrid phones coming....plus qchat hopefully by the end of second quarter. I never have any billing issues, and customer service I seldom need to call. Many are already noticing Sprint improved customer service, Hesse is making all the right changes I believe. The future of Sprint is bright, they offer great prices like you say, and noone has DC like Sprint!

Sprint is also the only company smart enough to realize that nobody was ever going to offer a PTT solution like Nextel. That's why they've paid their dues and undergone intense changes in order to incorpor...

To play devels advocate. Price is only one aspect. They lost millions of nextel subscribers and churn which was the lowest went to the highest. Nextel was mostly for business that didn't care about price as much as the everyday consumer. They are on their way now but its been what 3 years since the merger? That is too long of a time and nextel will never recover. Sprint will and they have made the right choice to keep DC and switch the phones voice over to CDMA. But I wonder how much does it cost them to keep the Iden network up and running just for DC?

customer service still needs help. i don't believing outsourcing customer care was the best option for them to save money on. i am constantly having to hang-up, and dial back. this with NSS and my regular Customer care for my nextel. while i agree, the iDEN is uncompareable, CS still has a long way to go. this isn't a generalization of NSS, but a generalization of the outsourced calls to countries that even me, as a californian can't understand the accent. which is pretty tough. i get just about everyone out there.

Mergers are tough, and this one has been one of the toughest.

It was a bumpy ride for Cingular/AT&T and back. But they have come out on top.

If you read my post, I did say Nextel's reputation has been ruined, simply by those who have had preconceived notions about Sprint.

Sprint and Nextel most likely WILL recover, if they stay focused on developing the products of the future they're already working on. Data will play a major role in any carrier's portfolio, and there, Sprint excels.

Pricing is more important today than ever. In order for businesses to stay competitive, they must look at ways to trim fat from their budgets, and one item that always is considered is the cellphone accounts. Bottom line, no business will continue pa...

Well said Sprint is the best, all the haters are just jealous of the wicked cool DC, and the killer unrestricted unlimited DATA! Sprint is by far the best carrier out there..but if you need to be 'IN' or m2m like everyone else likes to call it, then that's cool, i guess 🤣 🤣 🤣

Just wait in two years time all the haters wil be over here saying, yeah I really like Sprint they really are a good company....yeah DUH!!! now go back to verizon and stay there loser!

Ok DC is great for people that like to broadcast their conversation. I don't get why they would want it for regular use when m2m is free also. Second others too have unrestricted data and alltel being one of them is cheaper. 25 a month for unl PAM or free if you use it with your unlimited min times which I do. So these wars about who is better is sooo meaningless as it goes to who is better for you!

I get PAM for free so once again you're misinformed, and please stop commenting of DC..it's so obvious you know nothing about it.

Nobody has to broadcast their conversation with DC. All Nextel phones have the capability to silence the speakerphone, and have a private conversation over the radio. I do it all the time.

As a Sprint employee and long-time customer, the reason I feel people say that Sprint ruined Nextel has more to do with customer service and nothing to do with the network. I have heard from legacy-Nextel employees of the way things used to be for customer service and how repair centers worked for Nextel. I wish Sprint adapted more of the Nextel thinking when it comes to service. Thankfully we will all be under Nextel's billing system soon but there is not enough stuff Sprint is doing to learn from Nextel's successes. They used to have service-only locations for Nextel that were not sales at all. It would be nice to have that separation so customers are not wondering where to go. I'm an in-store tech for Sprint and wish the stores had ...
