you can call customer service and ask them to help you reprogram it, because that will change the lock code back to the default, which is the last four digits of your number.

or, you can dial ##3282# and see if you can view advanced settings. your lock code may be displayed there.

good luck

#786# will reset your device and remove any phone numbers and messages and everything but it will also reset the lock code

I was trying to avoid resetting the whole phone, and CS said to take the battery out and it should reset to default, but no dice. The ##3282# has nothing but a restore, but i need a service code to access that and some of the other options.

you need the msl to access that menu, same one they give you when you reprogram the phone. taking out the battery will never reset anything except maybe act like a reboot for your phone, the person that told you it would reset your lock code should be drug out back and beat with a sock full of woodscrews(what? my dads a carpenter) cause thats the kind of customer service(pulling crap from their asses) that is giving our company a bad name.

I have seen a few issues with older samsungs where the lock code scrambles for no apparent reason. Even in the store we would hook and read the code and it would appear as a bunch of weird symbols. At that point we would change the code and write the phone and it would work. You may have to visit a store to get it fixed.

A ##RTN is not needed for this...

Call *2. Tell the rep that you need to reprogram your phone. They should walk you through the steps of entering ## then six numbers then # into your phone, then putting your phone number and MSID into the programming. After that, you press done and the phone should power cycle off and on

When that's done, the lock will be reset to the last four digits of your phone number. Don't follow the advice to do a ##RTN unless you want to completely erase and reset everything. Simply repogramming it with your number will work.
