I have the samsung a880( i know its time for an upgrade). The security lock mysteriously changed somehow and i cannot lock my phone or access my lock features. Any ideas how i can figure out the lock code ot get in the security features?
...
you can call customer service and ask them to help you reprogram it, because that will change the lock code back to the default, which is the last four digits of your number.
or, you can dial ##3282# and see if you can view advanced settings. your lock code may be displayed there.
good luck
...
#786# will reset your device and remove any phone numbers and messages and everything but it will also reset the lock code
...
I was trying to avoid resetting the whole phone, and CS said to take the battery out and it should reset to default, but no dice. The ##3282# has nothing but a restore, but i need a service code to access that and some of the other options.
...
you need the msl to access that menu, same one they give you when you reprogram the phone. taking out the battery will never reset anything except maybe act like a reboot for your phone, the person that told you it would reset your lock code should be drug out back and beat with a sock full of woodscrews(what? my dads a carpenter) cause thats the kind of customer service(pulling crap from their asses) that is giving our company a bad name.
...
really i have spoken w tech support and thats the only option if you dont know the lock code and you need it reset is resetting the whole phone.
...
i have heard that some techs are able to retrieve it for you
...
sorry let me elaborate on that, techs at a full service and repair center
...
o my goodness. this is entirely too complicated.
PM with your number, and ill see if i can get your lock code. Ill pm you back with it, and how to get your code. or just call back and make them program your phone. its that simple. seriously.
...
how are you gonna get his lockcode? its on the phone not in the system.

...
I will say in over a year on this site I have never seen him be wrong when it comes to tech things with sprint!
...
not the security lock on the phone... the master lock code from sprint (##123456#,MDN,MSID) that lock code
...
ah got cha, call any sprint store tell them you want to master reset your phone, as long as you can provide the correct password they should be able to help you with that.
...
any sprint store with a tech or corp store ... plase don't say ANY sprint store........ EVER ๐ฟ
...
i called a tech at a full repair center and he said that he would call cc so i called our tech and they told me of the ##786#
...
Im kidding duh lol ๐
no hard feelings...

I have seen a few issues with older samsungs where the lock code scrambles for no apparent reason. Even in the store we would hook and read the code and it would appear as a bunch of weird symbols. At that point we would change the code and write the phone and it would work. You may have to visit a store to get it fixed.

A ##RTN is not needed for this...
Call *2. Tell the rep that you need to reprogram your phone. They should walk you through the steps of entering ## then six numbers then # into your phone, then putting your phone number and MSID into the programming. After that, you press done and the phone should power cycle off and on
When that's done, the lock will be reset to the last four digits of your phone number. Don't follow the advice to do a ##RTN unless you want to completely erase and reset everything. Simply repogramming it with your number will work.
