CS Questions

Am considering switching to Sprint after my AT&T contract expires because I have poor reception in my area. I hear the coverage and plans are great, but if you need to get in touch w/ customer service; "God help you". I've heard that CS is outsourced overseas and you experience long hold times. I've also heard that Sprint is making an effort to address these issues. Any comments from reps or users would be appreciated.

Thx.

My suggestion is get a powersource phone (PCS for voice, iDEN for PTT). If you do that, it will be a Nextel account, and Nextel CS is still great! 🙂

Um...

WOW. No, "Powersource", aka Hybrid phones are NOT nextel phones. They are Sprint phones. They use CDMA for voice. They only use iDen for ptt. It will be a Sprint account.

I have two PS phones, and it's still a Nextel account, because PS phones are considered Nextel phones, not regular Sprint. Even though they use CDMA for the voice, it's still a Nextel phone and account.

they are nextel phones using sprint for voice and data. they are set up in the legacy nextel billing platform and run iden only plans.

however the phones are crap for battery life. your best bet is to get a sprint phone without walkie talkie. sanyo's are best for reception, but lack in design and features. also steer clear from anything motorola in the sprint line-up as all their phones are garbage.

my ranking for consumer devices by manufacturer

1) Sanyo
2) LG
3) Samsung
4) Motorola

my ranking for business devices by manufacturer

1) RIM (blackberry)
2) Palm (Palm OS)
3) HTC
4) Palm (Windows mobile)
5) Samsung
6) Motorola

true to what ever u just said, but its still a SPRINT account and a SPRINT phone and a SPRINT rep will answer ur call and they will look at ur bill using ensemble in the nextel format. but putting that aside, hey the plans are great and phones arent too bad for sprint, try out sprint for 30 days and see if u have good coverage in ur area.

Motorola handsets are ranked very high by both JD Powers and Consumer Reports, but being a sales rep and dealing with them yourself, you're entitled to your opinion.

The reception and battery life on my Powersource phone are both way better than any plain Nextel phone I've ever owned.

But, anyone who's going to get one, get the extended battery.

Maybe so, but the same people who rate Verizon, Honda and other well established companies as "best", also rank Motorola either tied to or best. CR just gave at least two Moto phones the thumbs up as best choices for VZW.

CR also said the Sanyo Katana is best for Sprint, and the new ic phones (Motos) are good choices as well.

Sprint HAS recognized their issues with customer service, and IS going to correct their issues, according to an officer I've spoken to in the past.

This was addressed at several of our district, regional, and area meetings.

So YES, I'm going to believe Sprint will slowly correct the CS issue.

Ensemble or UBS is a new billing system that benefits the customer. Easy to read, and very understandable.

Sprint's billing system (like other carriers), have a billing cycle, and also bills one month in advanced; so don't be alarmed if you start service with Sprint, and the next week you receive an invoice from Sprint. The due date will, most likely, be due 30 days from the day your bill cycle, date , has started.

If you do chose Sprint...

I think it's kinda funny that everyone in the Verizon forum talks about Sprint all day long, you'd think it would be the other way around! 😉

My suggestion is choose another company if you are already worried about the customer service issue. I work for Sprint and T-mobile. I set up my account last year, and have had nothing but problems with my account. It has all been billing issues. When I set up my account I just got the 29.99 basic plan and the $10 unlimited direct connect add-on (because I already had a phone and really just wanted the walkie-talkie). Everything was fine until I got my first bill. They were charging me direct connect pay per use, plus the $10 for unlimited! I called customer service to have them fix it (which was difficult). Then my next 2 bills they did the SAME thing!! So I had to call in again and again to have them fix it. I was overpaying for ...

have you gotten your sprint ph yet?... if not then i reccommend going through a 3rd party dealer that can help you with billing and other issues better through their 3rd party CS hotline. i have 99% success with 3rd party and 10% with sprint corporate CS.... besides a 3rd party rep should work a little harder to get you into the right plan and phone because they can't lean on sprint corporate for income

Well,

I've been with Sprint for a lil over a week and called CS once for a question and they were friendly and glad to help. (I was nice, pleasant, patient with them and expressed my thanks for their help) also same thing with an e-mail to CS which was repsonded to in hours and went ahead and added the feature I wanted to the phone without any further questions. My praise for their service and phones were noticed and I recieved a thanks for it.

I guess it's just how you act to them and who you get to help you... So far so good for me..
