New customer question

I currently have Cingular and possibly coming back to Sprint. Question: i know the old roaming rule was that 50% of talk had to be on Sprint network. I saw the new plans (450 minutes for 39.99) and called in to inquire. The rep told me that the roaming rule no longer exists. As long as you have service you can use your phone. So....does anyone know about this? I don't want to port over and use my phone then find out that i will be terminited becuase i roamed to much. any help??

on the F&F plans which no longer exist and the new plans there is no roaming rule. That I believe is also the reason they have updated their coverage map. It says you can call anywere in the service area they show at no additional cost.

I just wanted to be 100% sure becuase I travel to the "roaming" area (lake house) and talk on my phone ALOT during night/weekend minutes. I just don't want a cancellation letter becuase I have 3,000 minutes a month night/weekend minutes while roaming. ha ha. do you know of any future EVDO coverage in this area? zip code 38901?

not true this is from sprints T&C

"Roaming Included Plans. Not avai'l with single-band or digital mode only phones, or to customers residing in an area not covered by the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Sprint may terminate service if a majority of minutes in a given month are used while roaming off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. International calling including in Canada & Mexico, not included. Usage in Expanded Voice Coverage areas may, in some instances, be invoiced after 30-60 days. When calling from Expanded Voice Coverage Areas: (a) PCS Vision and PCS to PCS calling services are not avai'l; and (b) certain calling features (Voicemail, Caller I.D., Call Waiting, etc.) may not work."

Can anyone give updates for a zip code? I've heard that we are getting a "build out" in 3rd quarter of 2007. Zip code 38901/38940. Thanks.

the reason you were told that is that Sprint expects their revA rollout to be complete by 3Q 07.

We don't even have EVDO in this area. They have built new towers in this area, but I keep thinking that maybe they will add additional towers to help "in building" service.

dont count on it, but a little birdy told me that on the coverage map online, you have the option to see towers coming up in the next few months. of course this will only show towers owned by sprint, not sprint towers that are owned by a third party. also, i am too lazy to go see if its true, so good luck.

but you WILL have EVDO rev A by roughly october, if wprint stays on schedule.

as a side note, i would like to state publicly how proud i am that sprint is always on time (if not ahead of schedule) with these roll-outs.

Sprint Will Cancel Service For CDMA Customers

Who Roamed 50%+
Sprint will cancel the accounts of CDMA customers who "excessively" use roaming, starting March 15, 2007, according to a company document provided by an internal Sprint source.

Starting February 26, 2007, CDMA customers who roamed more than 50% during either November and December, or December and January (we're not quite sure which, sorry!) will receive a mailed notice that their service will be canceled.

Graciously, Sprint won't charge these customers an ear...

Youre not going to start trolling for his corporate email to try and report him for posting internal info like you tried to do to me?

Who said he tried? 🙂 You do realize that the IPs of the forum postings here at Phone Scoop are traceable and all a wireless carrier regardless of who it is can have their legal department serve Phone Scoop's parent company, Phone Factor LLC with a subpoena for a particular forum member's posted thread along with their IP. The IP then would be traced to the ISP who in turn could very well be served. I assure you wireless carriers do go to great lenghs to fight internal security breaches and will go after rogue employees who post internal and confidential information. One of the joys of working in the wireless security field for a spin off corporation.

Yeah. I do realize that. Good thing what I posted was public domain. 🙂 I think he was just trying to be a little corporate vigilante.

Ok here is my question.

According to the new Sprint coverage map. They only have analog roaming left. So can someone tell me if this is indeed true as what I am seeing. So after seeing that then you can roam all you want on say alltel digital as it is now considered part of the sprint nationwide network!!

What the article appears to be saying is if you roam off Sprint's National CDMA wireless network greater than 50% of the time for two consecutive months, your wireless service with Sprint will be terminated with the ETF being waived. Just imagine if you received one of these letters and had purchased the Palm Treo 700p/wx or the PPC-6700 two months ago. You know what the current buy back from Sprint is on either of the two devices? Can we say $50? BTW, Sprint has digital roaming agreements as well as analog ones with various wireless carriers in North America.
