I don't think it was ever actually enforced....I mean.....the smartphone data plan requirement is enforced pretty aggressively...and they could have enforced the messaging requirement for Quick Messaging Devices if they wanted to, but they never seemed to actually do so.

your right, I know when i activated any messaging phone it always gave me the option to add messaging unlike if I were activating a smartphone it would always require you to add a data plan. So I never enforced it, I would rather make what I could off the upgrade/activation than lose the sale completely over a 'required' feature.

The problem with that is that if AT&T did any audits on any of those lines, they would have immediately added the messaging feature on that line without question because it was a "mandatory" feature. In certain cases the $20 was bundleable, but still a hazy area.

They could have done audits immediately and forced the agent activating the phone to add a messaging plan immediately, and refused activation until it was done, just like they do with smartphone activation, but they never did that.

They only did audits on data plans. Not texting. Never had someone call in saying "This has a messaging plan and it shouldnt!"

You do realize that up to when it was REQUIRED, you deciding to make the sale and not follow policy was simply causing a possibly frustrated customer in the future...meaning, agents such as myself were left to explain you're decision to not disclose all information ๐Ÿ‘ฟ Thanks man, glad to hear your sales are more important than providing a good customer experience ๐Ÿคจ Oh, and if you reply with something like.."I'm a sales agent, of course my sales are more important", please remember customer referrals are almost more important than any advertisement can do.

You honestly think I care if people come back to the company I work for? We are the lemmings, it means nothing to me. Sorry for making you do your job. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow. It's agents like you who give the rest of us a bad name. You clearly have no idea what she was talking about when it comes to referal sales.

"Sorry for making you do your job." You are making her job even harder, because YOU are NOT doing your job correctly.

Then again I feel like I am wasting my time because you're probably not going to be employed in the industry for more than another two months.

This was enforced for about two weeks, from the 20 something-ish of January until the announcement of any mobile calling.

It never seemed to be enforced when I was an at&t employee, (which ended on August 24 of last year)...I saw literally hundreds of people with newly activated quick messaging phones who had no messaging plans, or only the 200 plan...

At that point it was not enforced the way that smartphone data was. You must have missed the part where I said it was actually enforced like smartphone data was for about 2 or 3 weeks earlier this year, from roughly mid-january until they introduced any mobile calling.

Obviously that took place after August of last year, so clearly you would not know that it was actually enforced.
