This will extend beyond just having one GSM carrier. This will effect all technologies. The Goldilocks' of carriers are narrowed to just two choices. If one of the bears eats TMO, Sprint is the remaining middleweight. Once this happens. Verizon is poised to consume the last remainder. Thus the duopoly will be complete. I will fear this day.

VZW won't even bother with Sprint. They don't need to. No other companies will be able to step in to compete with the two companies. They will simply be too big and have too much market share and spectrum.

It may cause Sprint to pick up Metro, Cricket, US Cellular, or any combination thereof. Still would be HORRIBLE for competition.

Exactly. I laugh when people say Verizon will buy Sprint. They don't need or want them. They got garbage 2.5ghz spectrum that nobody wants along with a load of debts not to mention countless other problems like Nextel

Just like ATT?

VZW is interested in Sprint if the opportunity comes to fruition.

I don't know any financially secure company that is not interested in bolstering a common practice of getting as large as they can.

You may not be interested in Sprint, but I can guarantee VZW is.

Of course, they are. They have made overtures in the past and they will again and Sprint will have to listen no matter how distasteful the idea may be.

that day is already here. With the top two carriers nearly 100 million subs strong, AT&T is basically pissing on turf now. Verizon and AT&T for the most part have eyes only for each other even now. They treat T-Mobile and Sprint like insignificant gnats. AT&T making a play for T-Mobile is basically shining the light on how they really feel about the other two carriers.

Nobody cares that you're first by the way and secondly, the deal is going to go through whether anyone likes it or not. They'll be modifications, markets divested, etc. but the deal will go through.
