And unsurprisingly, it's faster than the poorly-engineered Atrix ๐Ÿคฃ

as you know, ip4 is only HSPA 7.2...so quit bein a douche and sayin the iphone 4 is faster than the atrix, the atrix is 14.4 if at&t ever decides to "turn it on" or whatever

The ip4's data isn't like just faster, its far faster then my Inspire. I love the phone, just upset over the speeds, I hope it gets adjusted fast.

If speed is that imprtant to you, then go to T-Mobile, they keep moving forward. ATT is stagnant. By the end of this yr Tmo is going to have 42mb/s HSPA+. It's because of ATT being stagnant that I left. Their the 2nd biggest wireless carrier in the U.S., they have PLENTY of $$$$, but they choose to take 3yrs upgrading their network. While Tmo has spent the last 18+months just breezing past ATT in data speeds.

I had TMO, to be honest, I did get some of those fast speeds, and like drive a half a mile and I'm on edge. To inconsistent. G2 was a real nice phone, but sold it off and left. Didn't need another line. In my home, AT&T was faster, step outside, TMO was slightly faster. I do understand milage can vary where one lives.

Agreed. I have T-Mo, and when it works its great...unfortunately, 3G speeds in my front yard translates to EDGE all throughout my home ๐Ÿ™„

Oh, you mean like all current '4G' networks? I'll gladly call any network 4G when they actually are - which, if you're wondering has been classified by the CTIA as 100Mbps. Even T-Mobile's supposed 42Mbps doesn't even come close.

Unfortunately, you guys are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind.
Back in October, the ITU included both WiMax and LTE in the 4G standard. They did this because in the original specifications LTE and WiMax met the standard. The ITU changed the standard after deployment had already started, so they have included it again. They even left wiggle room for Tmob and Att to call themselves "4G". Which is hilarious because Att was one of the biggest opposition to Tmob calling their tech 4G. Now they jumped in and did the same.

Oh and it's the ITU that defines the standards(although I'm not sure what God gave them this power) not the CTIA.

yeah, you're right. but i think we can all agree that all the "4g" speeds available to us now are pretty weak compared to what we'll have in a few years. and yeah, i work for at&t. we were all like mister tough guy when tmo first had "4g," then sold out and copied them barely a month later. i laughed pretty hard when i got that memo.

Yeah that's true of any new tech. Early 3G tech was laughable to what we have now. The same was for 2G. Huge difference between an older TDMA switch data call vs a GSM EDGE call... both of which are "2G". So it stands to reason that 4G won't be full on 100% up to potential right out of the gate. But the base tech is there.

I use the Atrix and I love it as it is. Apparently AT&T is deploying it's HSPA+ at the end of the month and i'm pretty pumped. Anyways, WHO cares about uploading...

The issue clearly isn't the phone. I can't speak for the atrix specifically, but the Inspire is also having similar upload issues however they're all tied to the carrier radio. You flash a non-throttled radio and the speeds are a lot better.

ATT DID do something to these phones to kill their speeds. I know you can't think outside of the "Apple good, Android Evil" black/white, but you should try it sometime.
