Tool, Toy, or Ego Boost?

Great article. Packing all that technology into such a small device inevitably results in trade-offs, but the marketing hype makes people think they can have it all. Almost every smartphone on the market today would have been considered a miracle a few years ago. Find what works for you and quit bashing all the rest just to prove you were "right".

Yeah the bashing does get old. People try to get all "football" about it or even religious. It's just technology folks. I confess I've been fanboy about stuff before but I actually try to be fair about it now.

As for Tool, Toy, or Ego Boost - one thing to remember...don't get too caught up in all this. The companies that are involved in all this don't see it that way. They only see MONEY, MONEY, and more MONEY. What I mean is, it's nice to have a cool new product but for all this new technology it's best to let it mature. Don't be the test rat. Wait till it's been out a while to see if it works or you'll have wasted your upgrade or spent lots of money.

I have friends with the original Droid, ok there is newer and better, there always will be. But it still seems to work smooth and functional. I honestly think it has got insane with new phones coming out on a weekly or monthly basis, and then making 6 month old phones look old and outdated.
