Probably wont be deployed til 2013 at the earliest. . .

LTE-A probably won't beployed til 2013 and the earliest. Until then we'll be stuck with 5-12mb/s, with bursts up to 20-25mb/s.

But hey, bring on the speed wars! Is what I say. Next year Tmo will be upgrading to 42mb/s HSPA+ with real world speeds probably between 18-25mb/s. AT&T, well whatever, they consider HSPA+ to be 14mb/s so their behind already, as they usually are, Sprint/Clear will probably stay the same 3-6mb/s til at least the endof 2011. And Verizon 5-12mb/s, maybe with bursts up to 20-25mb/s.

I'm hoping to see these carriers get into a speed war. See who can push who to bring ever faster speeds!

2011 will be a very, very exciting year in the wireless world. Starting with CES, January 6th.

3-6 on sprint??

funny because on my htc evo on my speedtest.net app from the android market i consistently get speeds of 8-10mbps on 2/3 bars of 4g signal -- on full signal i get over 10mbps -- so before you start declaring speeds like you know anything how about you do some real research

Yeah sure, my research is Sprint & Clears OWN advertising.

I don't think he's really aware of what the word "average" means.

Oh well.

Perhaps he actually does understand what average means.
He said he consistently[/] gets those speeds. I very rarely see speeds below 6 megs. Most of the time I'm hitting 8-10.

Perhaps both of you don't understand what it means when the carrier touts an average speed. The carrier either pushes their maximum speed as if it were a realistic number, or they aim lower, while providing faster speeds. Either way, someone discussing the differences can ONLY discuss the carrier's expected average speeds.

I get faster than Verizon's expected average speeds on 3G, but I can't go around telling everyone that Verizon's a liar.

Oh, and there are instructions[/] at the bottom of the post page telling you how to emphasize text.

Oh wow... me messing up the offset text function makes the rest of my statements completely wrong. Thank god we have you here to correct everyone. I never knew knowledge of offset text was the holy grail of wireless network knowledge.

Funny how that's what you focus on rather than continuing your argument about transmission speeds. My comment about the text emphasis consisted of one sentence. The rest of it pertained to the conversation at hand.

CamelTowing tends to only hear what he wants. Maybe he's getting a bad connection from his Sprint phone... 👀 can't hear too well...

Again. I own the two best rated phones in the country... My phones work just fine.

I question the speeds being quoted here as averages.

You may average 8 where you live, while I average 5.1 where I live. I have friends that have averaged only 3.9. So if you take the average of around the country, that is what the true average would be for speed tests on a given network.

I have reason to believe, 4-6 is currently accurate.

I don't think t mobile does either which is why they don't use it. They only post the max theoretical speed which is not real world! Every g2 and my touch 4 that I have done speed test against have not hit past 6mbs which is not even close to what I'm getting and definitely not 21mbs. Verizon cannot even compete att gets about the same speeds as tmobile so speed wise Sprint is the Fastest! 😎

Thats if you get Wimax, toss in their evdo-a network, and you get 1.5 tops.

AT&T behind? There is no hurry with LTE. 3G and HSPA+ working just fine...They may be behind but they likely want to do LTE right..Everyone in a hurry for LTE 4G..or whatever 🙄

How is everyone in a hurry to go LTE? Verizon's been working on it for three years.

https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=2410 »

It just happens that T-Mobile and AT&T had other plans budgeted out to happen before their own LTE transitions (namely, upgrading existing tech instead of building out new tech). I highly doubt they're behind because "they want to do it right," more likely they're behind because they had a whole other network expansion planned before they start LTE.
