Everything they've touched outside of desktops and laptops has been disastrous, including tablets and mobile phones. People often cite hardware as the cause of constant failure, although there were very capable phones that were crippled by WM's terrible code.
Android is such a massive competitor to anybody, and companies such as Microsoft should realize that handsets are going to be a money pit.
