Especially for turning Bluecoyote into a brainless zombie who does anything Steve Jobs tells him to 🤣 🤣 🤣

And don't forget about all those patent lawsuits against Apple! Nokia, Kodak! 🤣

Some of the stuff that has come to light is shocking, to say the least. There was one individual who was sued by Apple for leaking specs on the latest Airport. Whoopity-doo! I bet it really cost them a lot of sales.

Emperor Palpatine actually runs Apple. Darth Jobs is just the front man for the company. Next year they will debut the iDeath Star.

I have never heard anyone come to that kind of logical conclusion before.

Seriously guys, we don't want you to tell anyone about what we are going to be unveiling soon, if you leak company secrets you will be prosecuted

Oh hey, I'm going to leak these new, secret, product specifications to the media, I'm sure Apple won't mind...

Apple prosecuted just like they said they would and somehow they are an EVIL EMPIRE!

If it bothers you, work for someone else. You apparently have the skills to work in a tech company if Apple is going to hire you, and judging from their products, Apple hires the absolute best.

It truly saddens me when the newer generation of Apple supporters are ignorant to what made Apple almost lose their wardrobe years ago. The government and Media weren't there to take Apple by their hands and say: "Do this Or do That". I say Apple has primarily hung on so far not because they make a good product, but because the media reports on every little thing Apple does.

If the Media concentrated on technical advances in the wireless industry, Apple would have been lost in the mix of what was and now is. When are people going to realize the power of Media?

These Phone Forums are also an embarrassment to legitiment News worthy items.
Yes Iphone has some nice features and can indeed do some things better. However, there are phones...

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Has anyone here actually used the Evo's video calling on a regular basis? And isn't it rather proprietary? Apples framework for "facetime" is open source, meaning that anyone can use the standards to put into thier phones/computers or whatever else they come up with in the future and have it work with the iPhone... free.

Also, Apple started declining in sales and almost closed it's doors in the 90's because the company continued to be proprietary without actually innovating. Things changed when Steve came back.

Anyway, what were you saying again?

So Apple isn't proprietory? Wow. Was I way off base. Yes Steve Jobs brought life back to Apple. But Remember, it was the ipod that began the gain in popularity. Hence the ipod touch was the ultimate next level. Steve says lets put a phone in the ipod touch and see how it pans out. Win! Since then it has been a Media's wet dream to constantly make news on the Apple product.

My friend works as a local reporter for our City's largest Newspaper. He was sent to cover an "Event" at a Mall in one of our towns. He knew it was about a new product but was not exactly sure what. He found out that it was for the new ipad. While the line was big, it was literally Huge after his article. The power of Media.

I own the Evo as of last Friday. I will te...

The code for "facetime", Apples video conferencing program is all open-source and available to everyone for free. So yes, in that sense Apple is not proprietary. A lot of other stuff they absolutely and rightfully are proprietary, but keeping thier video calls open source will allow iPhones to connect to more than just simply other iPhones.

I was honestly curious about the video quality on the EVO, sounds fun. Looking foreward to waiting in line with all the other "sheep" on the 24th though!!!

If you would have read the post about Qik & the Evo you would know that the video conferencing feature thru HTC is open sourced as well

"...HTC soon after clarified that the camera was open to all developers, so Qik's software would not be the only option..."

Oh, so Qik offers their video conferencing for free and allows anyone else to use the underlying code?

I didn't realize that.

I didn't mean to imply that Qik & the EVO were closed in any way, I was just stating that Apple has a pretty good set up with their video conferencing that can hardly be described as closed or proprietary.

Its actually the HTC camera that is open sourced, Qik is just the video conferencing software that Sprint & HTC decided to include in the phone. ANY video conferencing software that is intended to use a forward facing camera on the Android platform will work for this phone ... just as you described for the iphone.

And sorry if it sounded like I was scolding you lol ... didnt mean for it to come thru like that.

So the iPhone and Android will someday, and hopefully very soon, be Video Chatting buddies?

Good stuff.

Yes. This would be cool. I think what sets the Evo ahead, is that it is not tied to WiFi. It can also be used via 3G/4G.

I might be 50 yrs old, but I have to say that being able to use the Video Chat anywhere I have network signal, is absolutely a blast! I now have 4 friends and 1 family member that own Evos. It's a fun experience!

Um, where did you get the idea I work for Apple?

And again, I hear what you are saying about Apple protecting themselves. Its just that they do it vehemently. Google, and I'm not saying they are saints, issues a C&D when someone is distributing their proprietary code. Apple sues the pants off of someone for leaking WiFi router specs. My point is Apple goes way above and beyond in protecting their stuff. I'm not saying they are wrong for pursuing someone who leaked info, I'm just saying they are harsh.

Oh, and Jayshmay, the Airport is Apple's WiFi router line. Same features as a regular router, but twice the price! When I was trying to connect my girl's Mac Mini to my Linksys router's network, I encountered several issues. Th...

I'm not saying you work for Apple, I was just employing (incorrectly) a figure of speech.

And I agree, they are pretty harsh, and until recent leaks have gotten a little out of hand it has worked for them.
