uhmmm... Sprint already has this Rate...
Sprint already has this rate ($.20 per text)for all international text messaging, regardless of incoming or outgoing... Why is this a big deal when ATT announces it?
...
Because this news could be of importance to AT&T subscribers. Not everyone has Sprint you know? 🙄
...
Is that Sprint's rate when texting while roaming in another country? I think that is what this was referring to.
...
Sprint does not have CDMA roaming Text rates outside Mexico and Canada - However, the current rate for that is $0.20 incoming and outgoing within/to/from Mexico and Canada
As for GSM roaming via Sprint GSM/CDMA phones or renting a GSM phone from Sprint and using your plan, the charges will be $0.20 where international text roaming agreements are in place. This includes texts within/to/from that country or USA.

Actually, Sprint doesn't have charges for using text messages overseas if your texting a domestic number (i.e. US number). I have friends who used text messaging in Europe on multiple occasions without any charges. Now if you text an international number, then you'll get charged.
I don't understand why T-Mobile and AT&T have worse international options vs. Sprint and Verizon, specially since the former two use the international standard for mobile communications (GSM).
...
this is for international TRAVEL, CDMA doesn't have coverage in Europe there for is irrelevant to the conversation
...
Oh yes and I forgot, Sprint doesn't have any options for world phones.... Try a little research before you ignorantly spout hate.
