"The software update will not, however, improve the 3G coverage provided by T-Mobile."

Seriously.

Yeah really. It's like DUH...

T-Mobile's 3G network has grown and is still growing by leaps and bounds.

That being said, it would be nice to have a little bit of non-prejudice news. It seems like PhoneScoop does everything in its power to bash T-Mobile.

That last line made my eyes go 🙄

They are not always bashing T-Mobile. If anything they are always bashing AT&T and showing love to T-Mobile.

It's funny how every one complains about other companies, AT&T in specific, having 3g network issues but as soon as any other carrier finally gets a phone worthy of comparison and it comes with network issues it definitely can't be the network.

I really don't think Phone Scoop is biasted towards any one company.

Secondly, isn't it as simple as turning 3G off and browsing on EDGE, until this gets fixed?

This is true. I got the G1 at launch... and there were so many places in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area where I work that had no 3G. I eventually ditched the G1 and used an unlocked iPhone since all I was getting was EDGE anyway. Now that I have the Nexus One, I am finding T-Mobile 3G EVERYWHERE... even in those places that didn't have it before. Hell... even Carefree, AZ has T-Mo 3G!!!!

I completely agree with the OP. Whoever wrote that bit is absurdly unecessarily biased and that whole "t mobile's 3g network" bit was uncalled for.

A company's 3g coverage is NOT a component of the phone. Whoever the person was that wrote this clearly wasn't even familiar w/ the issue in the first place.

The issue was originaly diagnosed when 3g coverage was compared to a G1 ON THE SAME NETWORK, (yes, the T Mobile network). And being that the comparison was done on the same network and network performance on the G1 was just fine when the nexus wasn't, contrary to what this person would have you believe, the t mo network is NOT part of the issue at ALL. =L

And as far as T Mos 3g coverage well, unless you live in the sahara desert ...

Unfortunately, many non tech savvy subs, couple the performance of a device, to the network. Whether this is a device problem or not, many customers will think otherwise. Clarification needs to be made to thwart confusion.
