350 Mill in only 2500 employees?

If they are "only" letting go of 2500 employees and are going to save 350 million a year that means the average pay is $140k a year.If its 2000 employees its $175k a year. I would think they would be letting go many more people with an average wage of 40k a year (8750 employees).

Very valid question, most people really have no idea how much it costs to actually operate a business.

There is a lot more to an employee then what there salary is. In addition to salary sprint also spends as much as 12000$ or more on benefits as well. Then to top it off there is infrastructure support as well. There is the software licensing utilized by the applications that 2500 people use. There is the physical equipment, real-estate, liability insurance, IT staff necessary to support, phone line, electricity, heating and cooling, and many other things.

The majority of the savings will most likely come from the closing of entire call centers. By closing entire call centers you may save 1/3 of the money in salary but the rest in op...

Basically, yes. I remember when Dan Hesse took over sprint and wanted to reorganize the company, about 300 people were fired from a vendor call center here in Louisiana. That center, at that time, employed about 1000 people.
