☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

LOL

Im glad to see that were going to have a good supply of phones on launch day and should have the staff to support it.

Hopefully with the amount of planning there doing it wont turn into a Storm 1 release where we were back ordered by noon launch day.

They have also tested this phone a lot more then the Storm 1 so there should be less out of the box issues.

I'm just amazed that they're actually going to have this available in a retail store at launch- last time I needed an upgrade on my work phone (about a month ago) the stores around here only carried the samsung omnia (aside from blackberry's) and I am talking about corporate stores, not dealers; they said all other PDA devices had to be ordered online (and customer care confirmed).

that's because besides blackberries, smartphones were never that huge for verizon besides for business users.

The Droid line will change this as it is a Media Smartphone, so it's going to be very attractive to people who want an internet powerhouse.

The Droid launch shows a shift with Verizon. They are moving towards smartphones for more than just the business/power user.

I don't work for Verizon, but what I would do if I were you is call around your local corporate stores to see which are opening early.

I would advise anyone wanting this phone launch day to get to the store ASAP if possible. A few minutes before the store opens should do but that may very from store to store and remember to be patient.

I say that because reps activating the phone for the 1st times may need more time to set up the device before you leave. They are required to set up and test your email before you leave and make sure the market place is working on the device. If you already have a G Mail account that will help A LOT since that is the one required on the phone to set up the synch and the market place. Im sure you can use your other emails on it as well, but G mail is required on the phone.

To speed things up you may want to do that the night before if yo...

Are you saying that somebody who has an Android phone can't download apps from the Android Market w/o first having a Gmail acct?

That is correct. You can set up the account right from the phone and its very easy to do but it has to be set up before the market place will work correctly. Thats also where most of the apps are at so its worth doing.

Dont worry though. If you buy the phone at a corprate store the sales person HAS to set it up for you and insure its working before you leave the store. I would pick there brain while your at it...or at least try to play with the floor model if you can and download some apps and try to move things around.
