What happens to customers in the iPCS market?
SEMOct 19, 2009, 1:24 PM
I am a Sprint customer in the iPCS market, how is this going to affect me? I know the service will remain the same, but what will happen to the local store I always go to? I am very comfortable with that store and its employees. Will it close down? Will it just officially be a Sprint store now? Will the current staffing be the same or will they replace everyone? Sorry for so many questions, just curious on how this is going to play out.

All great questions, I work for a store under the IPCS branding. So far the news is, in the order your questions are.
1) these stores will not close as far as we are told.
2) we will be officially branded Sprint stores. With my guess of selling Nextel also.
2) As far as we are told we are keeping our jobs. No one is going to be fired or let go.
If any more infomation comes to us I will also try to keep updates current.

I do not know why anything would change. They still need front line employees. I went through three such transitions in my wireless career. Usually only middle management is affected. IPCS headquarters will likely be chopped off. Sprint will probably be glad to do it, too. Maybe management structure at the store level will change as well.
