When did the term "monoblock" replace "bar?"

I don't know that anything was replaced. I consider the two terms interchangeable. There's no difference.

I did some digging on Google trends and news and it looks like the term monoblock when it comes to phones is of European origin and started around 2004. It was used to describe Nokia, LG and other bar phones. The term itself is used generically to mean a single forged part. The term had negligible hits on Google from the US until 2006 when it took off, but that may be nothing to do with phones as it's also used for wheels, amplifiers, and other forged parts. It sounds like a good buzzword to use and better than "candy bar" which I hate.
