I'm an Alltel employee and I don't know if this statement is true, we've received no emails/internal postings regarding this change. At this time I don't recommend getting your hopes up!

I agree with you on this not, but Verizon "did" if not do have the same set up. I wont be suprised if this is true. It will surely help boost my data card sales.

Ya, it is true, to a point.

Our rep told us about this a few days ago. But what he said it was is $40 a month for the data card, not $60 if the data card is put on a plan that has a smartphone on it.

This post makes it sound like you can do it on any plan as long as there is a phone. The plan codes are in the system. And there is documentation in the intranet about it.
