MetroPCS would gladly take the spectrum in New Jersey

Not only is MetroPCS coming to New Jersey in 2009 but They could always use the additional space.

yea...plus they need to come out in chicago and the rest of the midwest like iowa and wisconsin

I don't know if MetroPCS bid on any of the AWS or upper 700 band licenses for markets like Chicago. Denali (a company created by Leap Wireless) acquired the Great Lakes AWS D block (or was it E block?), and that's how they're expanding into Indianapolis, Chicago, South Bend, and maybe re-enter Michigan, after selling their PCS licenses for Michigan to Verizon Wireless. That same license also adds capacity to Cricket's markets such as Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Milwaukee (they hold a separate AWS license just for Milwaukee)

If Metro can get the New Jersey license(s), then that will add capacity, as parts of New Jersey will strain their network, as their current AWS license is only 10mhz. I just wonder how Cricket will be able to ...

Leap or Metro should look at acquiring some of the Alltel spectrum Verizon is divesting.

If there are any markets they show interest in expanding into, then I believe they'll put in bids for those markets. The might even go for any PCS spectrum that Alltel holds, but have no network built out for those licenses. I'm just not sure how much PCS spectrum Alltel has that Verizon must divest, along with the cellular networks.
