Microsoft is digging their own grave with these incremental upgrades to Windows Mobile.

They are gonna get slaughtered by Apple... and Google (when more Android phones hit).

I wouldn't count Microsoft out of the game just yet they do have quite a bit of capital in the bank they can invest in R&D and I think if they throw a little money at Windows Mobile they'll be able to come out with a good competitor to Apple and Google in Windows Mobile 7, let alone 6.5. Either way, all this competition is great for us as consumers and for me as a salesmen because it gives the customer more choices.

I agree totally on this. As a consumer, I value choice and having different offerings of OS systems is only beneficial to the industry. This also keeps price in check. Every OS has their own advantages to conform to user's needs. Yes even WinMo which I love.

I think people misunderstand with Microsoft. Right now, there are a lot of businesses that will only work with Windows Mobile. A lot of programs that will only do the same. There are more Windows Mobile Phones and users than iPhone users. Sure, that number is growing, but it's kind of like having an iMac or MacBook over having a PC. Apple creates the hardware and the software...one company does it all. Microsoft will give Windows to any manufacturer who creates a PC.

My point is, Windows Mobile will not fall to Apple. Maybe Google in a few years when they've lent their OS to more manufacturers and carriers, but as long as Apple keeps their OS on their products, there won't be a threat. And that's not a bad thing. They control all aspects...

Umm Android did come out....
It didnt work well it still has a long way to go for full intergration of Pop3 accnts.

Also Apple isnt really an operating system that will move to other phones

What we see with this is that they are doing the same thing that they do with Windows on the PC. The issue you will see is that the glitches they fix are in a big download, Honestly you will have to understand that most generic devices do use the basic Windows mobil. The OS itself is not great, and they are (from what i am seeing in the flaws of my HTC touch) trying to improve the touch screen interface. Because honestly like all other users at this time the interface isnt working ...at all

Personally the list you had would be wrong, I would...

Chuck all of them and get a Blackberry....lol

Seriously, Windows mobile is around because it's...Microsoft.

There are better operating systems out there for phones, but just like with Microsoft and the PC world, it's grave was never doug.

I happen to agree, recently bought a Bold, I find it fast and efficient. Maybe the OS isn't as powerful as WM, but it does what it does fast. And for the vast majority of smart phone users is far more then needed. Don't get me wrong, the TouchPro i.e. Fuze seems like a wonderful device.

As far as WM 6.5, depending on how this interm release is going to be used, will the phones it comes be able to upgrade to 7.0 when its finally released, then...

I am a person that not only is in the industry i also have had the opportunity to play with these phones ie (black berry, Palm, WM) and i would have to comment that i use a wm in the verison of htc 6900, i would have to say that wm and even palm are a better choice over any black berry, the only reason like the apple's Iphone is such that black berry has a great marketing department.. I have had more returns of the black berrys and the frustration of having to have seminars on just how to use these devices which in were with wm and palm its a plug and play and far more advanced and much more open to the software currently out there then bb's. but not getting off the subject i would say if the 6.5 is a extension of 6.1 ill be pissed if for th...
