What would this mean for Nextel and Boost Mobile customers? Would they not be part of Sprint anymore? Are they looking to sell iden assets? Are they looking to sell Boost and Nextel? Any ideas?

My guess is they are looking to sell the assets. To completely sell off the Nextel and Boost Mobile branding with their respective customer base would not be a profitable decision at any price, considering the revenue generated by both.

Last I heard is that Sprint is wanting to sell NEXTEL which includes all assets(customers and other misc). The brand has zero power and followers. Everyone knows nextel is horrible.

Verizon is now re re relaunching it's push to wait services.
AT&T has finally given up.
Nextel is and always will be the best at what it does.
It's a shame that the boys from Sprint screwed up the brand so bad.

att just launched that new samsung(cant remember model) that is durable like the nextel motorolas. They also just dropped their push to talk to $5 to help market it. Direct connect is a great Idea and I never slammed that feature. Its the company, service, and customer service that is horrible. Why do you think they're loosing customers? I'm not making it up and im not the only one who feels this way(obviously).

Excuse me? If that's so, then why did Sprint buy Nextel in the first place. Nextel has a lot of followers. Sprint will lose some customers if there is a sale, but it would rather take profits from a sale, than try to merge and convert technologies.

Actually, the Sprint Nextel merger has been called one of the dumbest decisions in recent times. It was horribly done and the technology we're seeing today with the direct connect on Sprint should have been done years ago.

The truth is, Nextel is losing customers because the mobile market has changed its focused. The walkie talkie was cool, but now folks are more data oriented. They want internet, videos, blah blah blah. Sprint is losing most of their customer base from Nextel because they want media...those customers will either get into Sprint phones or go to a different carrier. I understand their are a lot of Nextel lovers out there, but Nextel is the real problem with Sprint.

Nextel is not horrible, it is just the consumer mindset has changed. I work for a Sprint only dealer, and we have a ton of people switch from Nextel to Sprint because they want more features than Nextel can offer.

Not saying Nextel is bad, its just not made for the adverage person, for construction and emergency personal this is amazing. And merging iDen technology with CDMA is hard and almost impossible, and the few "Hybrid" phones on the market can be hit or miss. If Nextel is sold, I hope whoever buys it takes it and runs, Nextel has a market and it can do great.

The brand and technology both have a pretty large customer base and thus amount of power in the industry. Right at the time nextel decided to sell to Sprint, they had started a new campaign geared at bringing what had been an elite exclusive phone service to the masses, and so then dawned the era of teenagers and soccer moms chirping in the malls and supermarkets obnoxiously. They knew they were selling, so they built the customer base really quick with what basically amounted to pure churn, because they had no follow up wow factor once they got everyone on the network, nor did they care, because they just did it to sell the damn thing. Sprint just happened to be the patsys that came along and saw what it was at face value and decided th...
