They really have grown since entering the market. I must say I am impressed.

if they get big enough, maybe other networks will be forced to lower their rates. unlimited everything for about $50/month or 4 phone unlimited talk for $100/month... damn

That would be great but...I think the limited coverage is why they have rates so low.

MetroPCS targets urban markets where most people do not have very good credit. Those people vary rarely leave the city anyway, so the coverage does not really matter. Anyone who takes a t-mobile no contract plan over this is an idiot.

when you say t-mo no contract plan, do you mean prepay? (this is a serious question)
...

No. T-Mobile offers a FlexPay no contract plan, which is basically the same thing as metro PCS. however, t-mo's unlimited plan for a monthly contract is a lot more, and you have to pay invoice price for the phone. basically it is prepaid, but with the benefits of a plan without a contract.

Tmobile's coverage is way bigger than Metro PCS. So that is a reason to get tmobile over metropcs

well, i guess its nice that t-mobile can finally say they have bigger coverage then someone 🙂

Yes, T-Mobile has a larger coverage area. However, since their target clients are mostly inner city people (for flex-pay monthly contracts) with poor credit (who rarely travel outside the city) then metropcs is obviously better.

This is just the start once they buy out Cricket which will be soon they will have a very large area of service across the country and now with Metro Flash you dont have to get their crappy phones

Cricket activates flashed phones too. Its a lot easier to do then most think.

I believe the limited market was a problem at first. Not so much anymore. They are in the Places that people visit. The only real place they are missing now is New York.

I'm sure there are lot of other cities that people want it in.

Contract carrier will always have home advantage because they are National and international. They are going to always appeal to those set of customers.

I think if they continue at the growing rate that they are at. That it will make people who do limited travel think more about their current contract and savings.

I have to be honest about products. Would I tell my customers that. Heck naw. I have Verizon and I love my Verizon service. I sell Verizon, I make sure that people get exactly what they need and is fitted for them.

Metro I won't lie and say it is for some People and not for others. I travel way too much to have Metro, plus I hate their phone lineup.

With that said, it's economic. For a customer to only have to spend $50 a month for unlimited everything is indeed a nice deal.

I concur. I sell 6 different carriers at my work. Two of them are Verizon and Cricket. The best things about selling Verizon...fewest amounts of complaints for reception, cancelations, and chargebacks. One bad thing though they offer no bonuses or spiffs. If we sell 30 activations in a month its the same as if we sell 3. Every other carrier we have offers incentive packages. Just to give you a different perspective thats all. "Its the network b!tches" LMAO

you get what you pay for. metro is in my area. its for people with bad credit or who dont want a contract. they drop calls left and right, they dont work in walmart, shopping centers, or other big buildings. if you look at their coverage map in fla, it looks like a kid took a crayon and traced the major highways. (which is smart, it seems like they start in a city or town then cover the highways that connect them) but they are growing pretty fast.. only time will tell

They are currently building out a Network in NewYok. It should be up by next year. MetroPCS was a joke a few years ago but not they are growing at a steady rate. They have coverage or plan on having coverage in most of the major cities. Their plans and growing coverage makes Metro more attractive. But it will be hard for me to let go Verizon.

expanding.yes...but they use 1xRTT. they offer no high speed data services. they can grow all they want but today is all bout data...i wouldnt consider them anything special or a big gun until they roll out some evdo rev_a

Yes and no. Some people really could care less about data. And use Cell phone to communicate with (Friend, Family, Work, and Loved ones), that is what cell phones are for.

Than you have your other batch of people, like myself. Who do care about Internet speeds, downloading, sending pictures and messages. Having access to Multimedia tools, Camera's, etc.

Everyone has their own separate use for Cellphone's.

Today is not all about data. Why do you think companies (AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, Sprint, etc) still offer entry level phones. Some people only want an entry level phone.

And that is not saying that there isn't a market for Data.

There is a Huge Market for Data. Especially when you start factoring in devices (PDA's, New Touch Phones, and Blackberry devices).

I am just saying don't count it in to be the only focus, there is still a pretty nice market for basic.

I know that. If that was your attempt to get smart. They don't send them too fast however. Takes hours and sometimes days to get massages.

Some days they are responsive, and you can communicate very efficient.

I know people that either don't get the message or will get it 2 days later. I deal with enough complaints to know so, and I have a couple of friends who have the same problem...

well, I've never sent a massage via text message, I'd imagine that might take some time though. as for "attempting" to get smart, I've been pretty smart for a couple decades now, though in no way was I trying to slight anyone, you listed it as a feature that they didnt have, just wanted to let you know that it really was there. I've personally held an account with Metro in 2 of their markets (Atlanta, and Vegas) and not ever experienced the lag in MMS that you describe.

Actually no I did not list it as something they didn't have. I listed it as something that has to do with Speed and data, to correct you on my listing. You should really read my thread. Never did I say that Metro Pcs doesn't have text or Picture Messages. Find that quotation for me and I will gladly say sorry for saying such a thing.

I am happy that in your market "Metro Pcs" doesn't have a lag. In my Market Metro Pcs is very bad. They have a huge lag on messages and a high rate of Dropped class. Atlanta's Market as been around alot longer that the Market I am in.
