Why make this change?

when verizon gets a hold of it they will strip it away and charge you an arm and leg.

I agree. I think this is Chad's last stab at the world before falling into the state of none existant. . . .

I say Alltel did it to make Verizon look bad when they strip it away. .

Alltel might as well say "we'll let you do whatever you want and not charge you anything so when Verizon takes over they'll look like the big, evil corporation we want you to think they are."

First of all, people who sign up for this feature will be locked into it for 2 years. As a consumer, this still sounds like something I would want to take advantage of. If, 2 years down the road, Verizon doesn't offer this feature, consumers can choose to go somewhere else. If I didn't already have Verizon, I would jump on this promotion; it's not every day that you get those features on a network as solid as Verizon's.
