no.

powersource is a joke.
Q-Chat isn't out yet and might have problems without EVDO service.

I'm talking about a true CDMA/iDEN hybrid. one that fully uses both signals. CDMA for calls in 800 and 1900 bands and PTT where iden isn't available. 850 and 1900 iden bands for calls and PTT. FULL CDMA service and FULL iDEN service. it can be done, but it just hasn't yet. If they can put GSM and WCDMA on one device, they can do it with iden & cdma.

i don't think that is in their plans....qchat is right around the corner and that will be more than adequate, and powersource phones are not a joke, i use one everyday and it work flawlessly!!

How is that wrong... I work at Sprint. Almost every Powersource that gets sold gets brought back. We all avoid selling them because we want to keep our commission. There's nothing "wrong" about any of that so... NICE TRY KIDDO!!!

No, I'm not wrong kid. All of the powersource phones we sell get returned or break. Yes, I do know chit. One million or not who cares... I didn't see those but the ones we sell people are always pissed. We always push people towards Sprint because it's cheaper and better. And if they want PTT we sell them Sanyo 7050's not as good as direct connect but at least you can make phonecalls on it

what a lovely who cares attitude you have, your part of the problem! So like I said you're wrong...stick to selling the Katana and misinforming potential customer about Nextel and powersource phones and services. I use these phones in the fields everyday, so I definitely know more than you. But you keep living in your little sprint world, I gotta go do some real work now. bye!

hope you never have to leave the sprint network bub, cause if you ever do, you're SOL... that's why the powersource phones get returned so often. there is no 800mhz band for cdma. only the iden, and that's not even cellular, only DC.
out in the dayton area, and up near me in midland, MI there isn't enough combined coverage to make the powersource phones even worth looking at

what area do you live in?

Where I live (Seattle) there is no need for 800 roaming, Sprint has a huge 1900 native foot print here...and when I travel to Vegas and Denver same thing I'm still g2g! I use the ic502 everyday without a problem...plus qchat is right around the corner, so if for some crazy reason i need 800 it will be available to me soon 🙂

Yeah, if you don't live in an area with good overlap coverage, it isn't a good choice, but I do. I live in the Chattanooga TN area, and nooo problems.

Besides, the reception on these phones is so good, you can talk way beyond the green shaded areas on the coverage maps. I can get one bar of service outdoors in many areas where the maps show none, and make calls.

You know...its a really sad thing that everything the Military stands for is "wrong" in this guys eyes. Its also pretty sad that my grandfather died in WW2 protecting his freedom to say that line of BS.

Amen, bro!

I say if they hate the U.S. and our military so much, move, go live somewhere else in the world!

Btw, 1968 is calling all of them, it wants it's counter-culture revolution and tree huggin' hippy crap back.

Sammy Haggar said it best:

"We belong, in a world that must be strong
Oh, THAT'S what dreams are made of."

Agreed.

Coverage (850 roaming) may be lacking on these phones, but RECEPTION isn't.

My ic phone has hands down the best reception and signal holding capabilities I've seen on any cellphone. It even beats the Sanyos that are so highly touted. Where I work, PCS reception is only so-so, but on my phone, I have NO blocked signal at all, just weaker in some areas of the plant, wher...

And which is more important, a phone that works well in places you rarely visit, or one that works well in places you frequent more often?

Maybe the reason why the phone gets returned is that you are not giving them the right phone. For powersource phones to work there should be a complete coverage of CDMA,IDEN and EVDO service on that area. If the phone get's returned that means you're not providing them good customer service and most probably you're just aiming for commissions. I also provide these phones for my customers but I make sure that it will work. 😉

PowerSource is a stop-gap and not interoperability.

HPPTT / QChat hasn't launched yet... that's the thing.

It is in Sprint plans, its called high performance push to talk. And powersource isnt exactly a joke but it was a step in the right direction. They do plan to have devices that fully utilize all both networks have to offer, and there are already prototype devices.
