GPS - Will Verizon Cripple It?

I hope Verizon doesn't cripple the GPS on the Storm (like on the Curve), forcing us to pay for VZ Navigator. I received an email reply from their customer service dept in Sep 2008 about their policy on GPS functionality (on the Curve); please see below.

AT&T does not cripple the built-in GPS (on the 8310 Curve), so Google Maps works well.

AGPS is for VZ Nav
GPS for Google Maps, Blackberry Maps, etc...

What's the point of a Global Phone if your Nav only works in part of the US.

This GPS will be unlocked

I really want to believe that you are right Obento but the same argument could have been made for the 8830. The fact remains that VZW locked the gps on that model, so I guess only time will tell.

Verizon Will have both A-GPS and GPS.

So VZ Nav will work as well as Google Maps and Blackberry Maps.

This phone is to have World GPS by Verizon Nav and anyone els who carries it as well. So when you travle the world, you can have step by step turns on the go.
