I know there are those of us who are pretty adamant about the need to have removable batteries in our phones, but this isn't quite what we had in mind.

All joking aside, it makes perfect sense. If you're only going to use this in an emergency, you won't want to keep it on a charger all the time, since that will destroy the battery, but you also don't want to put it in a drawer, since the battery will likely be dead when you need it. Using AA batteries is a great solution.

Exactly, this is a great idea that I thought they should have done years ago. I've always been amazed some phone manufacturer didn't make a cheap, no frills, basic phone that in an emergency a person could put their SIM card in and run for a short period on AA batteries. I've known a lot of people over the years who would have bought one to stick in the glove box as a back up.
