This phone is DOA. That's too bad because a $499 price point could have put Blackberry back on the map.

Can you explain? The full price Verizon is charging for the Galaxy s6 edge and Galaxy s6 edge+ are $672 and $768, respectively. I'm looking at these phones because of the curved displays, obviously. So if we look at the display size alone, the price of the BB should be right in between these two devices...which, oh look, it is. But wait...there's more. This is a slider with a physical keyboard, which is a good bit pricier to manufacture than a solid bar. I mean sure, Samsung has a better reputation in recent years, but BB has made plenty of quality products and there isn't much reason to think they can't do so again. Plus, this new BB looks pretty nice.

It's all about brand, not anything else. LG knows this. Their phones get priced slightly lower and drops quickly. Blackberry doesn't have the $700 brand anymore. So they can accept a lower mark up, or make a cheaper phone.

I also think this is the started price, those who use BB phones or wanting to back to BB will buy it at this price. I also think in a few months, as BB (and others) have done, the price will go down.

I do think the phone is a little overpriced. $649 would have been ok. There are features with the Priv that do warrant a higher price, being able to use a complete BB services, security and a slide out kb add to the cost.

I may want to get the next generation of the Priv. Reasons being the 808 cpu, not a fan of the 810 cpu. But if they survive and they toss out the next generation of the Priv with the up coming 820 cpu, I'd get it.

This is not a Galaxy S6. Even so at T-Mobile the Galaxy S 6 is $529.99, G4 is $479.99. The Moto X Pure Edition is $399. I could go on and on, but $499 certainly isn't out of thin air.
