I think when John Chen said "We make four phones a year." he was talking about their production volume not the number of models 😉

It's true that Apple only churns out 1-2 models/year, but that's where the similarities end.

Chen specifically indicated that they are abandoning certain segments. It's a reduction not only in model count, but in the markets they are trying to reach.

Plus they are focusing "more" on the non-handset side of their business, which implies less focus on handsets.

I haven't carried a Blackberry for ten years now, but I always appreciated Blackberry's (a) superb battery life, (b) reliability, (c) overall efficiency. I know that was then and this is now, but still, credit where it is due.

I respect Apple's products, but I'm just not an Apple person. I tolerate Android because once a person dismisses Apple, Android is pretty much the only viable option. I actually PREFER the Windows 10 Mobile interface over either iOS or Android (I'm on the Windows Insider Fast Ring on my Lumia 635), but there's that huge "app gap" right now with Windows Mobile, just as there is a huge app-gap with Blackberry.

Blackberry today reminds me of SGI (Silicon Graphics) back in the 1990s - at one time the undisputed leade...
