EV-DO Revision B Standard Finalized
73.5 Mbps Super-Channel?!?

Why in the world would I need that? Am I a supercomputer tryin' to take over the world? 😳
I agree.
"The CDG is touting download speeds of 73.5 Mbps and uploads of 27 Mbps if a carrier could join 15 channels into a 20 MHz super channel, however it is unlikely any network could afford to dedicate such bandwidth to a single connection."
Then why mention it in the first place? Pfft.

a single user may rarely be allocated that bandwith, but having the ability to offer scalable bandwith is nice. it increases efficinecy if you can share any ammount of available bandwith among all the users.
I think it's a question of "How much bandwidth is enough?". Or even "How much speed do we need?".

How much speed do we need?
that's a loaded question right there.......depends what kind of party you're in for I guess. 😉

actually, we mentioned the 20 MHz superchannel for just that reason. when you see Rev. B described elsewhere, all you'll see is talk of the superchannel, because it sounds so, well, super. so we wanted you to know about it, so that you didn't come back saying "i heard it was capable of 75 Mbps, what's this talk of less than 5 Mbps." this way when you read about it elsewhere, you'll read about that superchannel and its high data speeds and know maybe it's not the big deal those stories are making it out to be.
Don't get me wrong, Eric. I like getting any info on any emerging technology. Some of these speed promises seem ridiculous, though.

Because some nerd can do it.
Without Nerds where would we be? Besides, I was a nerd in high school...I, uh, just wasn't a smart nerd (only semi-intelligent).
