I think it was lack of quality product and marketing BS overload, even for HTC, I mean their flagship innovation was (is) a loudness button in a software music player.

Now they got a subscription music service, I guess for all those people who've never heard of a subscription music service.

So a perfect match for Apple, iPhone got Beats now. That's so dope, I can't wait for that awesome Apple Beats Watch I will never buy to drop. Those who cant make their own decent headphones, buys another company who also can't.

However, I have a feeling the all-knowing analysts will agree with that marketing savvy dopeness, and Apple is about to make that 3 billion back by the close of the market tomorrow.

Actually, it was because HTC was spiraling the toilet, with their stock dropping 90% over 12 months on poor device sales.

So that's why they sold their percentage back, albeit at a profit? It would have been even more profitable if they would have kept it.

Sounds more like just another poor HTC business decision, not a reason why.

You dont make money simply by owning stock. You make the money buying low and selling high.

However more had to be going on when it happened. Considering HTC sold their shares of Beats and Beats is not in the new HTC One M8.

Beats isn't worth $3 Billion dollars.
I rather buy harmon Kardon.
But since apple has $159 billions in cash, why not piss some away.... after all Dr Dre is the man!

There are many different paid music hubs available and HTC's decline didn't allow a bet for extra revenue. I would list it as a higb risk given BeatsAudio isn't exactly top notch.

This is well suited for Apple because Apple is based on proprietary operation. Apple can work Beats into a monthy service for its customers to compete with the likes of let's say Spotify for example. From what I hear from my friends tied to Apple, they don't really care for pay per tune. Beats will give them a better choice.

BTW, as a musician, I don't particularly find BeatsAudio very attractive as compared to other products. This sort of negates the quality that Apple actually puts into music software for musicians.

They just have a rabid fan base that insists whatever they do is quality. Beats will be a quality product for Apple because their customers will insist that it is.

They are not bad products. But the value you get for them is nothing more than name brand. Beats is well marketed but It is just name brand. Paying almost $100 dollars for ear buds and $300 for over the ear? No, sorry I am not biting. I tried beats products and they are not impressive espically with a $300 price tag.

NOTE:
I have paid for quality headphone with my sony headphones that have lasted me for a good while. But beats headphones are not worth 300

I agree with every word you wrote there, ManBearPig.

Beats Audio is just branding. If you want professional quality headphones, then go get some professional headphones. Beats Audio sound good, but aren't professional headphones, and are definitely not worth $300. Nuf said.

if theyre not professional headphones why if you actually look are they used in studios

as far as other comment your not gonna get a pair of headphones that have god sound quality for a low price, beats are one of the best quality headsets or they wouldnt be as popular as they are simple as that and me and quitea few other people would agree, im actually bout to buy a new pair here shortly

I've been in many studios and have seen no Beats headphones. My friend who is touring with Daughtry as a keyboardist and guitarist, has seen may be one beats headset in a studio and it was allocated to an auxillary back up room.

When you are working in a studio, sound reproduction is crucial. No sacrifices. Beats is directed towards bass pronunciation. This eliminates the accuracy. I argue that less expensive Sonys will produce far better accuracy.

All the time? I will give you a chance to recant "All the time" because he doesn't use them all the time. He does like income from sponsors however, and that is where it ends. Musician magazines are full of sponsored ads.

If I knew this article was coming, I would have loved to hit up Chris and my friend Elvio the question of what headphones they prefer when they visited here two months ago. I can tell you this much, Elvio seemed to like AKG. However, musicians are always trying new gear.

Not that it is on topic, but I'm very proud of my friend. He has helped Ace Young(from American Idol) co-write "Scattered" and is now touring as a musician(keyboardist on stage) with Chris as well as co-writing(guitar and keyboard)his material. He is...

I disagree with you completely. I have never seen a pair of beats actually used inside of a studio outside of music videos, where they are only there for looks. Beats are popular because of the name brand. They are decent headphones, but you can get a pair of higher quality headphones for 1/2 the price if you look into different brands. Beats are worn by athletes and celebrities which is one reason why they are so popular, people buy them to be "cool". Most people that buy beats are kids. (i work at a store that sells them and haven't sold a pair to a person over the age of 25).

You are wasting money big time getting beats. Get some sony or pioneer for half the price and way better sound quality. I have also worked in music and never seen beats being used in a studio. I mean they are just sold like iphones, all flash

In my expierence, they just are not worth it. I can't fathom the value in those head phones. I really tried to like them, I really did. But in all honesty, for what you pay for, they almost feel like its hallow trying to find the justification to spend that much for the hype. Did I buy the advertising or the hype? Certainly not for the quality.

It depends on the kind of music you listen to. If you listen to rap or hip hop then beats are the best. And realistically those are the only true forms of music. Everything else is just crAp

If everything else is "just crap" why do many of the hip hop and rap artists seem to use the crap music as back up instrumentals for their lyrics?

To name a few:

Tone Loc's Wild Thing(Van Halen's Jamies crying)
MC Hammer(Rick James' Superfreak)
Vanilla Ice(Queen's Under pressure)
Tone Loc really out did it by using seven sampling songs in Funky Cold Medina from older groups.
Jason Derulo's Whatcha Say(Imogen Heap's Whatcha Say) and:

More recently and didn't get away with it:
Jason Derulo's Ridin Solo(The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony). Him and the producers had to remove the music and insert electronic nuances to supplement the actual intro and backing music.

The list is endless of this practice.

While the older artists...

Nope. Didn't forget. The list of hip hop and rap artists taking sound clips from older artists, is too long to list. I only used a few as an example.

But yours are definitely great examples.

Yeah, especially the MacBook Air, Retina MacBook Pro (which have both received nothing but universal panning from The Verge, Engadget, Laptop Magazine, etc.), the iPad Air, the iPad Mini (again, total bunk ratings), the iPhone 5s and 5c (lowest ranked phone of all time...)
