The assertion that the Snapdragon 801 has an integrated LTE baseband while the Snapdragon 800 does not is incorrect. The MSM8974 -- used in the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Nexus 5 -- is a Snapdragon 800 chipset. It is a full SoC with processor and LTE Category 4 baseband. Do not confuse the Snapdragon 800 with the Snapdragon 600, specifically the APQ8064, which was just a processor and had to be paired with the separate MDM9615 baseband.

"Like the Snapdragon 800 processor, the Snapdragon 801 processor includes integrated 4G LTE CAT4 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi for smooth connectivity, a quad core Krait 400 CPU with speeds of up to 2.5 GHz per core for best-in-class processing performance, and an Adreno 330 GPU for premium graphics, all while maintaining industry-leading battery performance. In the Snapdragon 801 processor, Qualcomm Technologies has boosted the performance of these key processing engines, including the CPU, GPU, DSP, camera sensor and memory components."
