How Many Times Are They Gonna Rename This Thing?
It was previously called 'Windows Live Folders' then 'Windows Live Skydrive' then 'Microsoft Skydrive' and finally just 'Skydrive'....now 'One Drive'....
What's the deal here anyway? This is getting ridiculous...it can't be a branding issue, because I know that Skydrive is very popular, particularly with college students.

DropBox is not built in to Windows and Office the way that SkyDrive, if you want to save something on SkyDrive you just hit 'save' and then choose SkyDrive rather than your hard drive....far more convenient than DropBox....in addition, if you use Outlook, as many, many businesses and universities, then SkyDrive is integrated directly into your email as well, no need to install anything extra.

Believe it or not, they were forced to change it, because it had the word "sky" in the name. But, this little gem of a company managed to successfully sue Microsoft and win. They were also sued over the use of the word "metro." They can no longer officially address their new UI as the metro interface. Is it stupid, I think it is. How many companies use the word metro in their name.

Actually, what happened was that Microsoft had partnered with Sky (the UK satellite company), and many confused customers who couldn't figure out how SkyDrive worked were calling Sky tech support instead of Microsoft. Sky got irritated about this and demanded that Microsoft change the name, at least in the UK. Instead, in order to keep its branding consistent, it changed the name worldwide.

I actually find it rather hard to believe that anyone was calling Sky for problems with SkyDrive....I'm actually very skeptical of that claim, I honestly just think that they were looking for Microsoft to pay licensing fees....Microsoft wisely concluded 'to hell with that' and just changed the name instead.

Imagine if the service was called something like "Sprint Drive" - it would definitely cause issues.
