Are we seriously supposed to be surprised to learn

That people who are in the market for a new device tend to buy the cheapest, rather than the most expensive?

Blackberry customers are not Apple customers, they don't like to spend more money than they need to just to show off how much money they have.

Let's see, you can spend $0 and get a Blackberry 7 device or $199 and get a Blackberry 10....

And we're surprised that they sell more of the Blackberry 7's?

Ya, there Blackberry 10 devices are not that impressive. They do have some neat features but the lack of apps and development hurts specially for a phone priced at a premium price. Sure it is a premium feel but it needs more to be able to justify spending that much for a phone when every other phone out that can do more and has more apps is the same cost.

It is ridiculously easy to install Android apps on Blackberry 10, and the Android apps run really well. Honestly, to anyone halfway knowledgeable about smartphones, the app barrier is not a big deal. You either find what you want in Blackberry World or you install the Android version. It's not a big obstacle. The Blackberry 10's have hardware which is equivalent to the high end Android phones and can run pretty much any app you are looking for.

If you ask people why they don't consider Blackberries, 90% of the time they say something like 'because Blackberries are for people in business, they are a serious tool to get work done, I don't use my smartphone for work'....

The problem is that Blackberry continued to target the enterpr...

Android phones are not 'useful', Android phones are toys, they are not serious tools for getting things done of for doing something useful, they are an entertainment device ONLY. They are like a Gameboy.

That is so severely untrue that I cannot even begin to devise a constructive counter-argument.

Exactly the average consumer knows nothing about side loading an android .apk. So with that said the argument than it run android apps perfectly is moot. The average consumer wants to go to a slick looking App Store and just click download and run their favorite apps right away. Since Black Berry World can't provide that at the moment, people lose interest in the platform. They took way too long to bring OS 10 and new devices to market. They should've brought them out last year. Unfortunately blackberry is a sinking ship. They should just sell themselves while they're still worth something. Because at this point they'll never get that third OS spot from windows phone mobile.

Then explain the wild mainstream success of the Amazon App Store for Android...

The amazon App Store is one easy quick sideloaded app which Amazon guides you in the process. Once it's installed you download and install apps like you normally would. And the amazon App Store success comes more from their own kindle fire line of devices. Face it Blackberry is dead. With their OS 10 method you'd have to continually find the APK files online and download to a folder and then use a file explorer to manually install these apps. Now for me or you that is. Simple painless process. Now give that same z10 to your grand mother and see how many apps she'll side load. Now give your granny an iPhone or android device and show her how to open the App Store guaranteed she'll be installing apps quickly. Why because it's all in on easy t...
