Sprint now has the spectrum holdings and financial means(SoftBank) to deliver the most powerful and fastest network in the nation.

I am hoping that my long belief that Sprint's direction in the last three years, will now start to show the latitude and longitude of providing a great network with equal offerings and service.

Having the spectrum holdings is fine, but Sprint MUST break out of the mindset that it's only going to cover metro areas and major highways. It doesn't matter how great your coverage is in these areas; you're going to hit a brick wall in terms of growth unless you're willing to build out into rural areas. First, potential subs in those areas can't sign up for a service that doesn't cover them, and second, a good number of people in urban areas aren't going to sign up for a carrier whose coverage ends at the edge of town.

Not to praise Verizon, but my wife and I took a trip through rural Alabama down into the Florida panhandle last week, and I was amazed at how far they've come with their LTE network. We drove down some very rural roads...

Wow you really are a Sprint fanboy aren't you. And how is Sprint going to compete in terms of speed. They are only using blocks of 5Mhz for their LTE. So they aren't going to have the fastest network.

However, there are two things. At least right now they have a smaller customer base so there would be more bandwith per user.

Second, the average user isn't going to know that its slower and realistically what is the difference between 20mbps versus 50mbps on a cellphone.

Its not really being a so called "Fanboy" but more a long the lines of understanding where the carrier stands. I have faith that Sprint will execute specially with the new Chairman in charge of the major decisions. Softbank not only brings financial relief to Sprint but also the leadership they have been lacking ever since I can remember.

I believe its time to shake off all those negative feelings everyone has about Sprint Nextel because that ship has sailed they are now Sprint Corp.

Bandwidth is really important I believe its even more important than the "speed'' of a network because everything is fine and dandy until its all cluttered up Verizon in California specially in the heavily populated areas is considerably slower compared t...

Shake off those negative feelings? That never happens. That is why the most popular sports teams stay the most popular. People learn to hate or love one thing and it stays that way.

There are people who will never buy a FORD because they hate it. I will never buy a Chevy because I had a bad experience with it. Sprint is still Sprint. People who hate it will continue to hate it. I however will continue to sell Sprint until I'm blue in the face. Just because I hate them doesn't mean other people do. And I need to make money and if the customer is happy then I am happy. I mean i have to sell them crappy iPhone too right?

AT&T left a bad taste in people's mouths after the whole monopoly thing. Now they're back to a name brand, even with people old enough to resent the previous times.

Exactly. People don't realize this isn't even AT&T. They just use the name they bought.

I'm very impressed with what I'm hearing out of Sprint, John. They are really making amends. They got a plan but action speaks louder than words. Sprint has a notorious history of coming up with good ideas but failing to execute on them. I just hope this time this is for real because if so I would be more than willing to give them a chance again. 800MHz CDMA could be the best thing that ever happened to them. Coverage on par with Verizon and indoors! That has been Sprint's Achilles' heel. Dropped calls indoors due to the 1900MHz band and virtually no WiMAX indoors whatsoever due to the ridiculously high frequency for mobile at 2500MHz. Plenty of bandwidth, yes but what good is it if you can't use it right?

Thank you JJinNYC, well put. High hopes for Sprint. Perhaps this new leadership will bring it to the table.
