Keep playing Catch Up Baseball to Verizon. You've still got a LONNNNGG way to go. And be sure to keep up those lies in your ads claiming you have the nation's largest 4G network. There's obviously a plentiful supply of ignorant consumers out there who buy your BS.

Another reason Consumer Reports rates AT&T grossly inferior to Verizon....in ALL ASPECTS; coverage, call quality, customer service, etc.

By technical definition no carrier has even deployed a 4G network yet. 100 times faster (textbook definition) of 3G while moving, or roughly 100 mbps, and 1GB per second while stationary.

So that would make you correct, they are lies.....but Verizon's ads are also lies for saying they have 4GLTE....LTE is not 4G.

Both have created their own Marketing/Advertising definitions of what 4G is. This would mean that you can disregard both. What AT&T is trying to point out is that you will get faster speeds than Verizon's horrid slow 3G in way more places than you will get Verizon's LTE. I for one will take my 3-7 mbps connection in a ton of places over 500 kbps congested 3G any d...

Now... I am not going to try to start a war as you both are on the fringe... but..

I RARELY witnessed hspa+ getting more than 2 mbps in the areas I travel (yes they are major markets and I travel A LOT) I usually see more around 1.5.

I have not seen my 3g run slower than 700kbps in years with Verizon.

Is hspa + faster than Verizon 3g = Absolutely
is it on the same level as LTE, not even close

Verizon 4gLTE = 420+ markets (getting harder to not have it)
at&t 4gLTEs= 100 markets (getting better)

So riddle me this Batman, if HSPA+ was all that why dump millions into catching Verizon? Is LTE not technically 4g? I don't know, but it is a hell of a lot faster than 3g and hspa+ so it is disingenuous and misleading to the consumer ...

And, At&t is at 135 markets.? plus depending on the area HSPA+ is not much slower then LTE like you suggest. Again this all depends on area of testing but T-Mobile has actually showed HSPA+ speeds faster then Verizon's LTE some places. Before you stay things like that you'll have to do a little looking. That was just asking for it. Either way I am happy on AT&T and has better (faster) coverage in the places I generally travel so I'm sticking with them for now. (besides this nokia 920 is wonderful) Best wishes to ya.

Now you bring tmobile into the argument? their 220 million hspa+ coverage? You bringing in wimax next?

at&t covers 275 million with hspa+ Not sure how tmobile advertises like they have more than them?

Verizon will cover 300 Million with LTE in the next 5 months, currently 250 million (LTE is almost as big as at&t hspa+ coverage and will pass it in the coming months. It already passes tmobile in terms of covered people. To say Verizon's coverage in comparison to hspa+ is limited is wrong.

I am going to allow att to quote what they think...

Our hspa+ will deliver speeds UP TO 4x faster than 3G
Our LTE will deliver speeds up to 10x faster

Tmobile is planning LTE next year... why? if hspa+ is all that than why?

So there yo...

Location is definitely relative. Hspa+ where I am gets 4-7 consistently and full bar consistent signal. Verizon 3G gets around 150 - 300 kbps down and LTE gets roughly 12 mbps; however signal drops constantly. I am in a town of roughly 200,000 people. So not a major city, but still good sized.

They are rushing to deploy LTE because it is way cheaper for them to run, and due to marketing consumers are aware that LTE is the next big thing and want it. I also think it is so they can bill for voice again since it will be going over data, and as it stands right now voice has more or less no value to carriers (opinion).

I will agree with you I was a little off on saying Consumer Reports is Paid by Verizon, the moment got the best of...

The only reason AT&T is using "the nation's largest 4G network" is because Verizon used this line with their "3G" coverage when they called CDMA 1x "3G". HSPA+ has been ruled "4G" by the ITU.

Remember those verizon ads with the red map of the USA as 3G compared with AT&T 3G?
