CDMA flip phone release in the midst of merger negotiations that immediately halt CDMA sales should they go through? How does this begin to make sense? I understand that you don't want to limit your income potential on the possibility hat the deal doesn't go through, but I don'y imagine even Metro customers beating down doors for this phone... what was the point of its release?

$$$

If it even bring them a single Cent in revenue, the CEO would consider this a worthy release. Everything has to do with money, I guarantee this. If they thought this phone wouldnt sell at all, they would not have released it.

The CDMA network is still going to be there until 2015.....you can't very well expect people to use the same phone until then.

Nope, not the same phone, but a new GSM/HSPA+ or LTE phone is the plan. No one is supposed to be upgraded to CDMA, they are leaving the network live so that anyone that upgrades the day that the deal is closed will have coverage for at least 2 years, at which point they go to a LTE or GSM/HSPA+ handset.

Simple. People out there still need a basic phone for calling and texting.
