Did Verizon absolutely need to take this long to verify the update?

This defeats the point of getting a Nexus device if an update has to filter through the carrier.

I would still like to get ICS for my Droid 3... but the slow a-holes at Verizon will just ignore us now and expect me to buy a new phone... I can't afford a new phone every time Google updates Android, I want support for my current device, which is more than capable of handling ICS!!

Yup...same thing here. Samsung has yet to release Gingerbread for the Sidekick 4G. They are all the same, dude.

The problem is that carriers are responsible for updates in the first place, with all the testing and whatnot that they do, it becomes a very expensive and time consuming process, and unfortunately it is rarely the case that it is actually cost efficient for the carriers to do this......so really the best solution is for the updates to come from Google directly....which would probably require getting rid of all the carrier-ware on the phones....

Exactly... So the carriers need to stop putting their filthy hands on the OS, and stop adding their bloatware that we don't use & don't want!! And maybe that would save the time & money it takes to get updates out to us.

It seems everyone's excited about a bowl of steam. This is proposed....supposition....Its not here yet! Oh some people will be getting it in dribs and drabs. Why not every one? That's a VerSinkZen exclusive. Promises without substance.

Anyone a victim of BlackBury updates via VerBlowZen? You'll know what I mean. Call customer service, ask about this update. They see nothing, hear nothing, and know nothing.

It would be foolish to butter the bread with another failed promise from the carrier that just does not care....When it happens, it'll happen. When? don't sit vigil by the phone waiting.....

Unfortunately customer service is not kept in the loop about things like updates....
