I'm quitting my job at Verizon.

This is becoming much to difficult to justify this to understandably angry customers. Every other person asks about this and they think that since I work at Verizon that I myself am the person that implemented these new charges or have the power to waive them (neither is the case). Anyone else in my situation?

There will always be idiots thinking you can do things you can't, some even think they know your POS systems better then you do. That's no reason to quit though.

I tell customers that customer service charges the $30 upgrade fee (since it in no way increases my pay at all) and that usually gets them off my back about it.

Customers will usually see things the way you see things, that's why people complain about the $30 upgrade fee more then the $35 activation fee, we're just not used to it yet. You have to sell yourself first.

Im not happy about the upgrade fee either..but you also have to realize its 1. Nothing new..VZW used to have upgrade fees. They got up to 20.00 before they were axed a few years ago. And 2. That every other company does it already,

Not that the second point is a valid excuse but it is true. Activation fees and upgrade fees only apply when that transaction takes place so its not a fee that is tagged onto the monthly bill.

It does make the job harder but no one said it would be easy. Ive been with VZW for almost 12 years now and they never cease to surprise me lol.

So I'd tell you this cheechnotchong. Try to hang in there. We have the hardest job in the company. The front line always gets it..and thats what your management is for. If ...

Definitely! It is easy to get them off as other companies do also charge similar fees in which Verizon doesn't have the highest it is just that in a webchat environment they are usually more hostile and it is just that it is being constantly hammered with "I've been here 10,000 years when Verizon came out with the Smokestack by Motorola" (lol)

Just realized that I said "it is just that, etc" sooo many times! So apparently it isn't just that lol. I wish I worked at an actual store so that I can work hands on. People come online mostly when they are pissed off at the store so they are already irate and they get worse when they realize that they have to spend $30 (I already add the upgrade fee into the price I tell them and they are more than happy with the price so people are mostly just complainers)
