🤣 if you took the time to read the original press release you would understand that this was the CFO speaking to investors about where new income will be coming from. VZW will not be raising prices, but they will see increased ARPU from shared data plans and that consumers continue to use more and more data. The sky is not falling.

Yeah I do get that, but it's not like they've batted an eye at raising the costs before. Thing with a meeting with investors, you can't just stand up there and lie, you'll be voted off the island in no time lol

The sky may not be falling, but it is definitely starting to rain. The fact of the matter is that the CFO also stated that people will be paying more for the shared data plans than they are paying now.. Please explain to me how that does not equate to raising prices. Working in the industry, I know one thing for certain. Customers don't care what the reason is if the bottom line is an increase in the bill. By the same token, any increase in billing equals an increase in profits. People are right to be concerned at the prospect, and ultimately, this kind of maneuvering will hurt VZW's bottom line. Either that, or people really are a bunch of lemmings that will continue to take it as they run over the edge of the cliff.

As was stated, the increase in arpu will come from increase in data useage across more devices. I have no inside knowledge on the new data plans but maybe its best to wait till they are announced before we throw VZW under the bus?

""I think revenue ARPU [average revenue per user] will continue to grow as we get into data share plans and people start to connect more devices [on the network]," he said, according to the transcript of the event. "As they add more devices, they are going to have to buy up into tiers. So again, you will see the revenue increase there.""

Nah. Why wait? We know that they are going to FORCE us off of our Unlimited Data plans and that they expect to add revenue as a result. Nope. I see no reason to wait to run this dude over.

I definitely agree about the fees being crazy but as far as losing the unlimited data, you aren't losing much. 95% of people use under 2GB and most use under half. When connected to wifi you don't use your data. Also most of those 95% use less than half. I work for Verizon and look at usage consumption constantly. I am on the customers side with the fees completely but as far as the unlimited data knock-off, people need to stop whining. There is virtually no change in usage except for those that sit on Netflix for 11 hours chugging pizza rolls and mountain dew. Emailing, Facebook, Google, etc doesn't use much data. I youtube like 5 videos a day (music), get on Slacker, social network, etc and I haven't used 2GB of data yet.

...have you reviewed the bills of any customers with shared data plans with say 2GB but who have been encouraged to connect their laptop, tablet, ipod touch etc...to their phone via mobile hotspot. The one thing we know is that the shared data plan will bring Verizon MORE revenue. Speaking on your expertise at reviewing bills of today's customers frankly means nothing.

I have no idea how your reply is relevant to my conclusion. I reviewed all customers that I chatted with. I know longer work there but I did check everything. I wouldn't ever say something that I didn't actually know because I hate being proven wrong and I wouldn't try to pretend to be more knowledgable amongst a sea of other experts on this site. One thing I can ask is if you ever reviewed any Verizon customer's account to check their data usage? I did constantly for a year pimpin.
