Nokia's Nuron Transmits Itself to T-Mobile with Ovi On Board

Today Nokia and T-Mobile USA introduced the Nuron 5230, an S60 5th Edition touch phone that is the first to bring Ovi Maps with turn-by-turn directions to the U.S. The Nuron has quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band 1700/2100 3.6Mbps HSDPA radios, as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and FM. It has a 3.2-inch, 640 x 360 resistive touch display with a software QWERTY keyboard. The Nuron has a 2 megapixel camera with video capture and support for 16GB microSD cards. The Nuron has both Ovi Maps and the Ovi Store, and T-Mobile announced that it will support carrier billing for the Ovi Store, allowing users to purchase applications from Ovi and have them billed to their monthly accounts. T-Mobile and Nokia said that the Nuron will be available in the coming weeks, it will cost $60 with new agreement.

It's About Time!

It's been a long time since T-Mobile and Nokia came together to offer an S60 based device. It's a shame they didn't take the 5800 Xpressmusic and change the WCDMA frequencies to T-Mobile's AWS band.

Compared to the 5800 this has less user memory, less camera, no flash, no on-board stylus. ☹️ T-Mobile makes a significant step forward with the device but it could have been so much better with an AWS capable 5800 XpressMusic.

Oh, and it doesn't have wifi either. Better hope for an awesome 3G signal for your area.

The information available indicates it has FM but that appears to be an FM radio for reception rather than an FM radio for tranmission.
