Opera: Major U.S. Carrier Deal to Be Announced Soon

According to Opera's CEO Jon von Tetzchner, the company is poised to announce a new distribution agreement with a major U.S. wireless network operator. In a recent interview, von Tetzchner said, "We are working ... to provide an Opera Mini-based solution with a major operator in the U.S." Opera already has deals in place with Virgin Mobile USA and Sprint, and von Tetzchner said that the imminent deal will be larger than those two. One issue of note is that the deal is being brokered by Motricity, and it is likely the browser will be carrier branded, and not branded by Opera. The deal should be announced sometime in the next two weeks.

Sprint

I already heard it's Sprint awhile ago.
Maybe you should have read this:

"Opera already has deals in place with Virgin Mobile USA and Sprint, and von Tetzchner said that the imminent deal will be larger than those two."

Bigger than Sprint only leaves 2 options
Whoever gets it, their customers will be happy. I have been using the opera mini since April and love it. Sprint should make it available for their nextel customers.

Verizon maybe?

Considering the recent talk of Verizon switching away from BREW and going to Java, maybe this is a hint of that change coming.
where did you hear about verizon switching from BREW to Java?

If that is the case, does that mean average joes can be make programs for their phones?
...
That was my first guess too, Verizon.
