Today Sony Ericsson announced that it is taking pre-orders for the W995a Walkman phone. The W995a has an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, and video capture. Quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 850/1900/2100 HSPA radios are on board. It has stereo Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio with RDS and Wi-Fi. It will be boxed with an 8GB memory card. The W995a can be pre-ordered through Sony Ericsson's SonyStyle.com online site. The phone will be in Sony stores on or about July 6 for $600.

Replacement for the c905a?

So, I was holding out for SE to release the c905a, but I'm wondering if they'll scrap it (too) now that the w995a is gonna be released.

The features I wanted in a phone are basically the same: 8mp, WiFi, aGPS, 3G, et al

But unfortunately, the price tag is also similar.

I've emailed SE NUMEROUS times to see when (if??) the c905a will become available in the US on a North America 3g band, but getting a response from them is like getting teeth pulled. No, more like WAITING to get teeth pulled.

I'm no huge fan of the slider design, as I'd rather have a candy bar with the above features. I'm a die hard SE fan and have no real desire to switch brands, but the way they drag their feet in getting something out that stands apart from the ...

best phone ever...

Listen I don't care about how many thousand apps are in your app store, I don't care how big your touch screen is, and I don't care if you're an industry giant or an underdog.

All I can say is this phone kick @ss at what it's for.
1. I'm a guy so I don't carry a camera on me at all times, but this 8MP camera is top notch.

3. The screen is big, the finish is black stainless steel, and the key pad is great.

There are some cool GPS and accelerometer apps but at the end of the day this is a bad @ss phone and does just what I need it to do...be a sweet phone.

Keep your ...

no thanks

it doesn't worth $600
1. it doesn't have AWS variation for T-Mobile and GlobalLive
2. 8mpx doesn't worth such price
3. it's not smartphone
Despite your lack of mastery in the English language, I agree with you on terms with the Smartphone comment. WiFi is completely pointless to pay for if you can get Data Unlimited through, for example, AT&T for $10-$15 a month. So it really should be...
