Twitter has rolled out a new way to see what's happening live around the world with the addition of a "Happening Now" tool in users' timelines. Twitter says the Happening Now content will center on events and topics it thinks users will be interested in, though it is kicking off the feature with a focus just on sports in the U.S. Users can tap the new icon to see what the event is, hide the event from their timeline, or select the featured photo to view conversations about the event. Twitter didn't say when Happening Now might be expanded to other event types, such as concerts, or regions. Twitter often seeks out ways to capitalize on the real-time nature of its service and Happening Now is the latest such attempt. The new tool is being made available to both Android and iOS devices via the latest version of Twitter, which is free to download from the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store.
